Wade is\u200c the special prosecutor who helped DA Fani Willis indict Trump, Shafer, and others for lawfully contesting Georgia\u2019s 2020 \u2064election results.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1894858928\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-494d109fe98e9240ad6a332a3cc313b0 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-494d109fe98e9240ad6a332a3cc313b0\"><\/div>\n<p>A\u2062 photo accompanying the post shows a brochure\u200d with a photo of Wade\u200d and Christopher Campbell, his\u2063 law \u200dpartner, grinning.\u2064 Shafer\u2019s name and one of \u200bhis charges (\u201cImpersonating A Public Officer\u201d) \u200dare printed \u2064along \u2063the bottom. According\u200b to\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/politics\/defendant-seeks-to-punish-fulton-prosecutor-after-receiving-legal-brochure\/SPUBBNJ3QFHCTIAYL6EZO47ODA\/?ecmp=pg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC)<\/a>, \u200cthe brochure was also accompanied by a letter \u201csigned by Campbell advertising the \u2064firm\u2019s legal services\u201d that read: <strong>\u201cAttorneys Wade &#038; Campbell dedicate their criminal practice to protecting the rights of any and every individual charged with a Misdemeanor, Felony, DUI\u2063 or Traffic\u2064 Offense!!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The American\u200d Bar Association (ABA) explicitly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanbar.org\/groups\/professional_responsibility\/publications\/model_rules_of_professional_conduct\/rule_4_2_communication_with_person_represented_by_counsel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">states<\/a> that \u201cIn representing a \u2064client, a lawyer shall not communicate about \u200bthe subject of the representation with\u200c a \u200cperson the lawyer knows to be \u2062represented by another lawyer\u2064 in the matter, unless the lawyer has the consent of the other lawyer or is authorized to do\u200d so by law or a court order.\u201d As noted in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/politics\/defendant-seeks-to-punish-fulton-prosecutor-after-receiving-legal-brochure\/SPUBBNJ3QFHCTIAYL6EZO47ODA\/?ecmp=pg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Thursday court filing<\/a> \u2062 by Shafer\u2019s legal team,\u200c it was public record that Shafer had already acquired \u200dlegal counsel by Aug. 22, 2023 \u2014\u2064 several\u200b weeks before Wade\u2019s firm sent \u2064Shafer the \u2064solicitation.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"CpUrhqQ\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Yesterday I received an eight page solicitation from the Wade\u2064 &#038;\u2063 Campbell law\u200d firm to represent me in the Trump indictment. We \u2063have notified the judge and moved for an immediate\u2063 hearing.\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Oo317130qb\">pic.twitter.com\/Oo317130qb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 David Shafer (@DavidShafer) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DavidShafer\/status\/1699841799198486754?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 7, 2023<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>As The Federalist previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/09\/01\/exclusive-fani-willis-possesses-evidence-exonerating-georgias-alternate-electors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>,\u2063 Willis and Wade claimed in their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/documents\/1ccdf52e-1ba2-434c-93f8-2a7020293967.pdf?itid=lk_inline_manual_5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aug. 14\u200c indictment<\/a> that Shafer and the other 2020 alternate electors\u200d \u201cunlawfully falsely held themselves out\u201d\u200b as Georgia\u2019s \u201cduly elected \u2062and qualified\u201d presidential electors and further insisted these electors intentionally attempted to \u201cmislead\u201d figures such as then-Vice President Mike Pence\u2062 and Georgia Secretary of State Brad \u200dRaffensberger \u201cinto\u200c believing that they actually were such\u2062 officers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But a transcript of\u2063 the Georgia Republican electors\u2019 meeting on Dec. 14, 2020, obtained by Willis and her \u200bteam\u2064 during \u200btheir <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nolte-jeff-garlin-out-at-the-goldbergs-following-misconduct-allegations\/\" title=\"Nolte: Jeff Garlin Out at 'The Goldbergs' Following Misconduct Allegations\">years-long investigation<\/a> of Republicans, explicitly shows \u2063the intent behind\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-fani-willis-possesses-evidence-exonerating-georgias-alternate-electors\/\" title=\"Fani Willis holds proof clearing Georgia's alternate electors.\">casting alternate electors<\/a> was not to impersonate public\u200b officers, \u2063as Willis and Wade alleged, \u200bbut to lawfully preserve Trump\u2019s legal challenge to the state\u2019s \u2063election results.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-04b0aa2f96bfdd929401052b9c638124 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-04b0aa2f96bfdd929401052b9c638124\"><\/div>\n<p>While much of legacy media\u2019s coverage has been devoted to \u2064Willis, \u2062Wade has played a significant role in helping the Fulton \u2064County \u200dDA \u2062weaponize the legal system against\u2064 Shafer and his fellow Republicans. As reported by\u200b the \u2062AJC, \u201cWade has \u2063been a top deputy to Fulton DA Fani Willis on \u2064the elections investigation since \u200dearly last year [and] \u200b led the \u200dDA\u2019s presentations to the 23-member special \u2062grand jury that spent nearly eight months hearing witness testimony and collecting other evidence\u201d in\u200b the case.<\/p>\n<p>The outlet\u200d goes on to describe Wade as an \u201cold friend\u201d \u200cof Willis,\u2064 who previously \u2064\u201cmentored her when she briefly served as chief\u2064 magistrate judge in South Fulton\u201d and \u2064\u201cadvised [her] after she was elected and began staffing up her\u200b department.\u201d County\u2064 financial records \u200calso reportedly \u200dshow that\u2062 Willis\u2019 office has \u201cpaid\u2062 the Law\u200c Offices of Nathan J.\u200b Wade\u2064 just shy of $549,000 since January 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In their motion for an evidentiary hearing filed in Fulton\u200c County Superior Court on \u200dThursday, Shafer\u2019s legal team alleged that Wade\u2019s \u200claw firm violated ABA rules by partaking in \u200b\u201cdirect, \u2062uninvited, and improper\u200d communications\u201d\u2062 with Shafer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[T]he improper communication is far\u2062 more \u2063egregious than a\u200c typical \u2064violation of the Rule, given the fact that it constitutes <em>a communication \u200bwith \u200ca criminal defendant by the lead \u2062prosecuting attorney\u2019s law\u200d firm regarding charges which the attorney has been responsible for bringing<\/em>,\u201d the \u2064motion reads.\u2063 \u201cSurely Messrs. Campbell\u2064 and Wade do \u2062not believe that Wade &#038; Campbell \u200ccould represent\u2063 Mr. Shafer against the very criminal charges brought by Mr.\u200c Wade, its first named partner, and lead counsel in the prosecution.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5cc57b11f07a28acbe976477fde9df5b fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5cc57b11f07a28acbe976477fde9df5b\"><\/div>\n<p>Shafer\u2019s \u200blegal\u200c team furthermore requested\u200c that\u2063 the\u2062 court \u201cdetermine an appropriate sanction\u201d for the purported solicitation, \u201cranging from admonishment to\u200b disqualification.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wade &#038; Campbell Firm did not immediately respond to The Federalist\u2019s request for comment on why it sent \u2014 and whether it felt\u2063 it\u2063 was appropriate\u2063 to send\u200d \u2014 the solicitation \u2062to Shafer. Nor did the law firm answer if \u200cit\u200c has sent the\u200d same \u2063or similar brochures to the other Republicans facing charges from the Fulton County DA\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-63cb5b43a734f688e90e602aea28a059 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-63cb5b43a734f688e90e602aea28a059\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>of the indicted alternate electors in Fulton County, received a solicitation from Nathan Wade&#8217;s private law firm.
