This \u200bdecision comes after\u2062 Senior U.S. District Court Judge David Ezra \u2063ordered Texas officials to remove\u200b the \u2062barriers that\u200c Governor Greg Abbott \u200chad installed.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Buoys have \u200cnearly\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-wins-appeal-to-keep-floating-barrier-in-rio-grande-to-deter-illegal-crossings\/\" title=\"Texas successfully appeals to maintain floating barrier in Rio Grande to prevent illegal crossings.\">eliminated illegal crossings<\/a> of people and drugs where they&#8217;ve been placed,&#8221; said Abbott&#8217;s legal team.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Department \u2062of Justice had sued Texas over the barrier, citing\u200c environmental\u200b and\u2064 humanitarian concerns. Judge Ezra, however, stated that Texas&#8217; actions violated the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The Court finds that\u200d the barrier&#8217;s threat to human life, its impairment to free and safe navigation, \u2062and\u200c its contraindication to the balance of priorities Congress struck in the RHA outweigh Texas&#8217;s\u200c interest in implementing its buoy barrier in the Rio Grande River,&#8221; wrote the judge.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The\u200b harm to navigation is \u200cclearly evident from the \u200cevidence presented, while\u200c the State of Texas did not present \u200cany credible evidence that the buoy barrier\u2063 as installed has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-orders-relocation-of-floating-barrier-in-rio-grande-texas-will-appeal\/\" title=\"Judge orders relocation of Rio Grande floating barrier; Texas to appeal.\">significantly curtailed illegal immigration<\/a> across the Rio Grande River.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Abbott has vowed to challenge Judge \u2063Ezra&#8217;s ruling, stating that it is incorrect\u200b and will be overturned on appeal.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We will continue to utilize every strategy to secure the\u200b border, including \u200cdeploying Texas National Guard\u200c soldiers and\u2064 Department\u200c of \u2064Public Safety\u2062 troopers and \u2064installing strategic barriers,&#8221; Abbott said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1693504018745000&#038;usg=AOvVaw1RMMjCvCBOBYdpkw5O_njE\">CLICK\u200c HERE TO GET THE \u2064DAILYWIRE+\u200c APP<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Illegal Crossings Remain High<\/h3>\n<p>Despite the floating border barrier, illegal crossings into the U.S. continue\u2062 to be a significant issue. Most foreign nationals are processed, given a court date, and then released into the U.S. In August 2023 alone, approximately 177,000 people were arrested for illegally entering the country.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In that same month, a record-breaking 91,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-leaders-sound-the-alarm-on-illegal-immigration\/\" title=\"GOP leaders sound the alarm on illegal immigration\">000 illegal immigrants crossed<\/a> in family groups, with the number of children crossing per day \u200bincreasing from 270 in July to 377 in August.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Texas can keep its border barrier after the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals granted a motion to place an administrative stay.
