The homeowner&#8217;s terrifying encounter\u2064 led to\u200c the bear being put down \u200bby \u200cthe \u2063Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife\u2063 and\u2062 Parks. <\/p>\n<p>According to \u200ca local \u200bNBC \u2064affiliate, the\u200b parent grizzly\u200b was \u2064euthanized that night after consultation \u200bwith the \u2064U.S.\u200c Fish and \u2063Wildlife Service. \u200bThe \u2063bear had a\u2063 history of violence, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ammon-bundy-supporters-to-protest-in-idaho-on-wednesday-over-his-arrest\/\" title=\"Ammon Bundy Supporters to Protest in Idaho on Wednesday Over His Arrest\">prompting officials<\/a> to take action.<\/p>\n<h3>A History of Conflict<\/h3>\n<p>The 10-year-old female grizzly had been captured for research purposes in \u20642017. Genetic\u2064 analysis and other identifying characteristics confirmed\u200d that the bear was involved in\u2062 a\u2063 fatal attack on a woman near\u2063 West Yellowstone in\u2062 July. The bear was also involved in an encounter in Idaho that injured a person near \u2063Henrys Lake State Park in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Although each encounter \u200bwas\u200d ruled \u200cas a &#8220;defensive\u200b response,&#8221; the bear&#8217;s deadly \u2064attack on a hiker\u200d in Yellowstone \u200dwas \u200bdetermined to not be predatory, according to the Gallatin County Sheriff&#8217;s Office.<\/p>\n<p>The male\u2062 cub involved in\u200b the incident was taken\u200d to a \u200cwildlife rehab center until it can\u200d be transferred to a zoo.<\/p>\n<h3>A Growing Problem<\/h3>\n<p>Grizzly bears\u200d have become a significant issue for residents in western states as their\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/officials-euthanize-grizzly-bear-that-mauled-woman-in-yellowstone-this-summer\/\" title=\"Grizzly bear that attacked woman in Yellowstone euthanized.\">population exceeds recovery goals<\/a>. Republicans are now pushing \u2064for the bear to be delisted from its\u200c endangered status, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/vermont-lawmakers-pass-measure-allowing-town-to-town-mask-mandates\/\" title=\"Vermont Lawmakers Pass Measure Allowing Town to Town Mask Mandates\">allowing local governments<\/a> to \u2064manage wildlife \u2064responsibly.<\/p>\n<p>In \u2063the Greater Yellowstone\u200b Ecosystem alone, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/woman-found-dead-from-bear-attack-near-yellowstone\/\" title=\"Woman killed by bear near Yellowstone.\">grizzly bear population<\/a> has jumped from 136 in the year they were listed as \u2062endangered to an\u200d estimated 1,063 \u200bin 2021. This exceeds the threshold required\u2062 to lose their endangered status.<\/p>\n<h3>The Debate Continues<\/h3>\n<p>While some argue for\u2064 returning \u200cspecies management to\u200d the State of Wyoming, far-left policymakers\u2064 are\u200b fighting to\u2063 keep protections in place. \u2063Democrats \u2062have opposed delisting efforts on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Author\u2064 and photographer Cat Urbigkit, who operates a sheep ranch in western Wyoming, believes that grizzlies should be \u2064managed rather than fully protected.
