She also had counterfeit driver&#8217;s licenses in the victims&#8217; names but bearing \u200bher photograph.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>In August 2020, she used \u2064a\u200b counterfeit driver&#8217;s license in\u2063 the name of a Massachusetts victim to arrange a Gulfstream private jet \u2064charter\u2063 flight from Florida to California, where she stayed at\u200c a luxury hotel.<\/p>\n<h2>371\u2064 People Charged in COVID-19 Relief \u2064Fraud<\/h2>\n<p>Last month, the Department of Justice\u2064 launched two \u200dnew COVID-19 fraud strike forces and said that it had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/371-charged-for-covid-19-fraud-totaling-836-million-doj-5479353\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">charged 371 people<\/a> \u200bfor offenses\u200d related \u2063to over $836 million\u2062 in alleged COVID-19 fraud.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to the DOJ, criminal charges were filed \u2062against 371 defendants and \u2064119\u200d defendants pleaded guilty or were convicted at \u200btrial. More than $57 million in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/371-charged-for-covid-19-fraud-totaling-836-million-doj\/\" title=\"DOJ charges 371 for 6M COVID-19 fraud.\">court-ordered restitution<\/a> was imposed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Justice Department has now seized over $1.4 billion in COVID-19 relief\u200d funds that criminals had stolen, and charged over 3,000 defendants with crimes in federal districts across the country,\u201d Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The charges are the result of a COVID-19 fraud enforcement\u2064 sweep that took place nationwide\u2064 from May through the end of July, involving 718 law enforcement actions, including criminal charges, civil\u2062 charges, forfeitures, guilty pleas, and sentencing.<\/p>\n<p>Many cases involved\u2063 charges related\u2064 to pandemic unemployment\u2063 insurance \u200cbenefit fraud and fraud \u200dagainst \u2064the Small Business Administration\u2019s two largest pandemic programs: the Paycheck \u2064Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loans.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>A family&#8217;s stimulus check from the U.S.\u2062 Treasury\u200b for COVID-19 aid arrived in the mail in Milton, Mass.,\u2062 on March 25, 2021.
