Sean\u200d Michael McHugh,\u200d 36, of Auburn, Calif., was also sentenced\u2063 to \u200bthree years of supervised\u2064 release and ordered \u2062to pay a $5,000 fine and $2,000 in restitution to the Architect of \u200bthe Capitol.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Mr. McHugh was found guilty in April 2023 of \u2062obstruction of an official\u2064 proceeding and entering and remaining\u200c in\u200b a\u200d restricted building \u2063or grounds with a \u2062dangerous or deadly weapon. Only counts 4 and \u20635 were included in the partially stipulated \u2062trial.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In a stipulated trial, both\u2064 sides agree to a set of facts, and the\u2062 judge renders a verdict based solely on those facts. No witnesses appear, and no oral\u200b arguments are made.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>Federal prosecutors recommended a \u200dharsher sentence for Mr. McHugh, but his defense \u200cattorney argued for a\u200b shorter prison term. Mr. McHugh\u200b was listed as No.\u200c 59 \u200con the FBI&#8217;s Jan. 6 &#8220;seeking information&#8221; page.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Defense\u2063 attorney Joseph W. Allen asked for\u2063 a 24-month prison term followed by three years of\u2064 supervised release. Mr. McHugh has been jailed in pretrial detention for 27 months.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. McHugh was part of a \u2063large, vocal, and violent crowd on the west plaza of the Capitol. You guys like doing that?\u201d Chomo is an\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-man-nets-6-5-year-federal-prison-sentence-for-assaulting-police-on-jan-6\/\" title=\"California man sentenced to 6.5 years in federal prison for attacking police on Jan. 6.\">urban slang term \u2064meaning \u200dchild molester<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>High above the crowd, the\u200b mysterious and still-unidentified \u2063man known \u2064only by the\u2062 hashtag #ScaffoldCommander\u200c encouraged the crowd to escalate the situation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<h2>Aimed Bear Spray<\/h2>\n<p>At about 1:11 \u200dp.m.,\u200c prosecutors said, Mr. McHugh used bear spray on\u200b the police line, forcing several officers to retreat. He later boasted about it on social \u200dmedia.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At 1:40 p.m., \u2064Mr. McHugh pushed a large Trump\u200b banner towards the police,\u200b urging others to put it up.
