Opening \u2062the gates to the Internet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The European Commission\u2062 has identified companies as gatekeepers if\u2063 they provide core platform services, such \u200das\u2064 Google&#8217;s Chrome search browser and Apple&#8217;s\u200d App Store, acting as a bridge between businesses \u200cand consumers.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to protecting European consumers \u2062from &#8220;disinformation&#8221; \u200cand &#8220;hate speech,&#8221; the law also requires\u2063 tech firms to be more transparent about\u200d their algorithms and how they target\u200b users \u200dwith ads.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers will now have \u200daccess to platforms&#8217; recommendation \u200balgorithms for ads and the right to opt out. Reporting illegal\u2064 content\u200b under \u2062the DMA will also be\u200b made easier.<\/p>\n<p>Stricter safeguards for minors, including system redesigns, privacy measures,\u2063 and \u200bmental health-risk \u200bassessments, will be implemented.\u2064 Furthermore, ads targeting children are now banned.<\/p>\n<p>The big \u200btech firms must also address content risks, enforce\u2063 terms, expedite user reports to Brussels, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/european-union-targets-six-big-tech-firms-in-latest-crackdown-on-online-content\/\" title=\"EU targets 6 tech giants in new crackdown on online content.\">publish annual risk assessments<\/a> while \u2063promptly removing\u200c offending content.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>All companies listed as\u200c gatekeepers have a timeline of \u200dsix months\u2062 to\u200c comply with \u2064the DMA&#8217;s requirements.
