The employee initially testified to having no knowledge of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-federal-charges-same-dominance-trump-hangs-on-to-front-runner-status\/\" title=\"Trump maintains front-runner status despite new federal charges.\">deleting security footage<\/a> \u200dbut later changed their statement.\u2063 Mr. Woodward claims that the employee was threatened with prosecution before agreeing to \u2062become a key witness.<\/p>\n<p>While Mr. Woodward\u200d no longer\u200d represents the employee, he still represents Walt Nauta, a co-defendant in the case.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<blockquote><p>Mr. Jordan, in his\u200c letter (<a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/republicans-judiciary.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/2023-09-07-jdj-to-smith-re-woodward-allegations_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>), states that his office\u200b has information suggesting that Jay Bratt, one of Mr. Smith&#8217;s senior prosecutors, &#8220;allegedly improperly pressured Stanley Woodward &#8230; by\u200b implying that the\u200d Administration would look more favorably on Mr. Woodward&#8217;s \u200ccandidacy for a judgeship if Mr. Woodward&#8217;s client cooperated with the Office of the Special Counsel.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This inquiry is part of the Judiciary Committee&#8217;s \u2063ongoing oversight of the Department of Justice, according to Mr. Jordan. He expresses serious concerns about the abusive \u200ctactics\u200c of the\u200b Office of the Special \u2063Counsel and questions \u200cthe Department&#8217;s commitment to upholding the rule of \u2064law and ensuring impartial justice.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Jordan has \u200crequested all\u2064 documents and communications related to Mr. Woodward or Mr. Nauta&#8217;s legal representation to \u200cbe submitted by\u200b the end of the business day on Sept. 21.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<blockquote><p>Mr. Smith&#8217;s office has\u200c not yet\u2064 provided a\u200c comment on \u2064the matter.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Alleged\u2064 Threats<\/h2>\n<p>The \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/detailing-the-22-sexual-misconduct-allegations-against-nfl-quarterback-deshaun-watson\/\" title=\"Detailing The 22 Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against NFL Quarterback Deshaun Watson\">alleged incident occurred<\/a> in November \u20642022 when Mr. Woodward was summoned for a\u200c meeting with Mr. Bratt. Mr. Woodward claims prosecutorial misconduct, stating that Mr. \u200cBratt pressured\u2064 him to convince his client, Mr. Nauta, to cooperate \u2062by \u2064suggesting that it could\u2063 positively impact Mr. Woodward&#8217;s judgeship application in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In August, Mr. Bratt \u2063filed a motion arguing a conflict of interest due to Mr.\u200b Woodward representing both Mr. Nauta and potential witnesses for the prosecution. A <\/p>\n<h2>Conflict of Interest Hearing<\/h2>\n<p> was\u2063 subsequently requested by the \u2062special counsel&#8217;s office regarding legal representation for \u200cCarlos\u2064 de Oliveira, the third defendant in the classified documents case.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The prosecution claims that John Irving, who represents Mr. de Oliveira, is also \u200brepresenting three potential\u200b witnesses in the case.
