Advocates believe that the policy was\u200b aimed at outing trans and non-binary students to \u2062their parents.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>After \u200cthe\u200d Chino Valley Unified School District\u2064 (CVUSD) adopted a policy\u200c requiring schools\u200c to notify parents\u200d when their children change their pronouns or use a bathroom of a gender other than \u2063the one listed on their official paperwork, \u2062California Attorney General \u2062Rob Bonta (D-Calif.) sued the district. <\/p>\n<p>The decision was made by San Bernardino County Superior Court Judge Thomas S. Garza.<\/p>\n<p>According to the policy, if a staff member recognizes that a \u2064student is requesting to\u2062 be identified or treated as a \u2062gender other than the one stated on official records, CVUSD schools will notify parents in writing within three\u2064 days. <\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the policy specified\u200b how \u2062schools are supposed to alert parents in the event \u2062that \u2063students are hurt, threatened, or attempt suicide.<\/p>\n<p>In August,\u2063 Bonta declared that he \u200cwould take legal action against the Southern California school district as he claimed that they violated the rights of LGBTQ+.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve secured a temporary restraining order against\u200b Chino Valley Unified School District\u2019s illegal and \u2064dangerous forced outing \u200bpolicy,\u201d Bonta announced on X, formally\u200b known \u2064as Twitter. \u201cToday\u2019s decision\u2062 by\u200b the San Bernardino Superior Court rightfully upholds the state rights of \u200dour LGBTQ+ students and protects kids \u2063from harm by immediately halting the board\u2019s forced outing policy.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bonta announced that they will continue to challenge the policy in court and provide \u201cunwavering support \u2018so each school district \u2018promotes safety, privacy, and inclusivity.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The next\u200c court appearance regarding the matter was set for\u200b October 13<sup>th<\/sup>, which is proposed to decipher whether Chino Valley\u2019s policy on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-judge-halts-school-districts-gender-identification-policy\/\" title=\"California judge stops school district's gender identification policy.\">students\u2019\u2063 gender identity \u200dviolates \u200bstate civil rights<\/a> and privacy laws.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWhile this fight is far from over, today\u2019s ruling takes\u200d a significant step towards ensuring the physical, mental, and emotional well-being\u2064 of transgender \u2062and gender-nonconforming students,\u201d Bonta\u2019s\u200b statement \u200dread. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Those who support the \u2018parental notification\u2019 system say that it\u2019s not about outing the students but rather about defending parents\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n<p>CVUSD Board President Sonja Shaw announced that she is committed to ensuring\u2063 that the\u2064 policy stays in place.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to safeguard parental rights,\u201d Shaw said in a statement. \u201cThat is a constitutional right\u200b and we\u2019re going to make sure that our parents at \u2064Chino Valley know they\u2019re sending \u2062their kids here to\u200c be taught, not to be anything else.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Shaw stated at the\u2064 time of the initial lawsuit filing that she was\u200d not shocked because the state government had regularly \u2064taken actions \u201cto cut parents out of\u2063 their children\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWe will stand \u200dour ground and protect our \u2062children with all we can \u200dbecause we are \u200cnot breaking\u2063 the law,\u201d Shaw explained\u200d to ABC 7. \u201cParents have a \u200dconstitutional right in the upbringing of their\u2063 children.
