The world\u2019s not getting safer, it\u2019s getting more dangerous. The world\u2019s not getting any younger and\u200c we\u2062 have a\u2062 lower bound,\u2062 it just makes sense to have an upper bound,\u201d James\u200d told the\u200c press in an interview. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The new \u2063bill comes \u2064after older \u200csenators have recently had \u200bmultiple health scares, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/newsroom\/mitch-mcconnell-cleared-to-continue-working-after-freeze-doctor-says\/\">Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell<\/a> (R-KY.), Democrat Senator \u200dDianne Feinstein (D-Calif), and President \u2062Joe\u2062 Biden. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t\u200b watch a video of Feinstein \u200cor McConnell or Biden and \u2064tell me everything\u2019s OK,\u201d James \u200dsaid. \u201cIt\u2019s not just us saying it, it\u2019s \u2064our adversary seeing it, they see that America has lost a step.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cOur founders didn\u2019t intend for these to\u200d be lifetime appointments in the legislature. They didn\u2019t intend for legislators to die in\u2062 office or\u200d to get doggone close. They didn\u2019t intend for \u200ba politician to line their pockets, to gain decades of seniority, and get\u200c to be millionaires in office\u200b either.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, James also said that\u2063 the change\u2063 would\u2064 be a years-long process and that a Constitutional\u200c amendment must be approved by two-thirds of both the \u200bHouse and Senate, as well as ratified by three-fourths of\u2064 the state legislatures. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThis is something that we need to \u2064make our country stronger for hundreds of\u2064 years into the future,\u201d James said. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Republican is \u200dalso pushing \u2063a larger accountability package, \u200bincluding limiting \u2062service in \u2063Congress to\u2063 18 years.\u200c <\/p>\n<p>A third \u2064bill, \u200bas part of the package, would restrict legislators from receiving\u2062 salaries in\u2063 the event of a government shutdown.
