(Tony Blakeslee\/EastIdahoNews.com via AP, Pool, File)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>OAN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/tag\/james-meyers\">James Meyers<\/a><br \/>12:10\u2062 PM \u2013 \u2064Thursday, September 7, 2023<\/p>\n<h2>Lori Vallow Daybell Appeals Conviction for Murdering Her Children<\/h2>\n<p>Lori Vallow Daybell, the so-called \u201ccult\u2062 mom\u201d who is serving a life sentence for\u2063 murdering her two children, has filed an appeal to her\u2063 conviction in Idaho. <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>According to court\u200b documents, the \u200cconvicted murderer\u2019s attorney said her legal team intends on \u2064arguing if Vallow was mentally competent to stand trial in the deaths of her children, Tylee \u2063Ryan and Joshua \u201cJ.J.\u201d Vallow. <\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Vallow\u2019s attorney is asking the Supreme Court whether prosecutors \u201crepeated requests for a continuance\u201d violated her\u200c right to \u200da speedy trial and the court\u2019s setting and whether the court\u2064 was wrong for allowing prosecutors to amend the grand jury indictment filed against Vallow. <\/p>\n<p>Vallow was convicted on two counts of first-degree murder by \u2064a \u2064jury in May,\u2063 for murdering her children, allegedly with her husband, Chad Daybell. Vallow \u2064was also accused of conspiring to kill Tammy Daybell, Chad Daybell\u2019s first wife, in October 2019. <\/p>\n<p>She spent over\u200b 1,200 days in local jail prior to her \u2064sentencing hearing, which ended with her being ordered to serve three \u2062life sentences without parole. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>During the ending of the trial, District Judge Steven Boyce of Fremont County stated Vallow \u2063\u201cremoved\u201d her \u201cchildren from their home in Arizona, alienated them from friends and\u2064 family\u201d and brought them to \u200bher home in Idaho \u201cto murder them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cYou had\u200c so many other options. You chose\u200c the\u200d most evil and destructive path possible,\u201d he told the defendant in court. \u201cI don\u2019t think to this day you have any remorse for the\u200b effort and heartache you caused.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Boyce\u2064 added Vallow does have \u201cmental health issues.\u201d Her diagnosis from February stated that she suffers from a \u201cdelusional disorder\u201d \u200dmixed with hyper-religiosity\u201d and a \u200c\u201ccontinuous \u2062and unspecified personality disorder\u201d \u2062with narcissistic features, Boyce said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The two children were found in shallow graves on \u2063Chad Daybell\u2019s Idaho property, in June 2020, several\u200d months after they disappeared from their home in September 2019. Tylee\u2019s \u200cremains were burned while \u201cJ.J.\u2019s\u201d were bound in duct tape.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors argued that Vallow killed\u200b her children in an effort to \u200csecure \u201cmoney, power and sex.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Chad Daybell has yet to face trial for his charges in connection with the\u2062 murders of \u200cthe two children. He will be tried separately in\u200d April of next year on two felony counts of conspiracy to commit destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence, and two felony counts of destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence.
