County\u2019s New Controversial D.A.\">excessive sentences<\/a>&#8221; for January 6 riot defendants<\/h2>\n<p>In \u200ba recent interview on Newsmax with \u200bEric Bolling, Florida governor \u200cand Republican presidential candidate \u200dRon DeSantis expressed his disapproval\u2062 of the harsh sentences handed\u2064 out to \u2062some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dem-rep-aguilar-trump-absolutely-tampering-with-january-6-witnesses\/\" title=\"Dem Rep. Aguilar: Trump 'Absolutely' Tampering with January 6 Witnesses\">defendants involved<\/a> \u200din the January 6, 2021,\u200d riot at the U.S. Capitol.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the possibility of pardoning or commuting \u200csome of the \u2062longer sentences, DeSantis stated, &#8220;We will look at all those cases. There&#8217;s some\u200c examples of people that should not have been prosecuted. They just walked into the Capitol.
