Ron DeSantis Slams Trump&#8217;s \u2062Defense of Fauci Firing<\/h2>\n<p>Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL)\u2063 has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-breaks-silence-on-robert-f-kennedy-jr-incredibly-dangerous\/\" title=\"White House finally speaks out on Robert F. Kennedy Jr: 'Extremely risky'\">strongly\u200d criticized<\/a> former\u200d President Donald Trump&#8217;s recent claim that he\u200b was not \u2063&#8221;allowed&#8221; to fire Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former White House chief medical adviser. Trump&#8217;s comments\u2062 came during\u200b an interview on\u200b Hugh Hewitt&#8217;s radio show, \u2062where he was questioned about why he hadn&#8217;t dismissed Fauci.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;First of all, you\u2019re\u200b not allowed. \u200bHe\u2019s \u200dcivil service, and you\u2019re not allowed to fire \u2063him,&#8221; Trump told\u2064 Hewitt. &#8220;But forget that, because I don\u2019t necessarily go by \u200deverything. \u200bBut \u200dDr. Fauci would tell\u2063 me things, and I wouldn\u2019t do them in many cases.\u2062 But also, \u200che wasn\u2019t a\u2064 big\u2062 player in my administration.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>DeSantis, however, dismissed Trump&#8217;s defense, pointing out that it contradicted his previous statements about his \u200brelationship with Fauci.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s important to\u2064 point out\u200c for a long time that \u2062was not his excuse,&#8221; DeSantis told the Rubin Report. &#8220;His excuse had been that if you\u200b fired Fauci, both the Democrats \u200dand the media would have \u200bpitched a fit, which, of\u2064 course, is 100%\u2064 true.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The governor\u200c emphasized that\u200d leadership sometimes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/desantis-hits-trump-for-saying-he-couldnt-fire-fauci\/\" title=\"DeSantis criticizes Trump's claim of being unable to dismiss Fauci.\">requires making tough decisions<\/a>,\u2063 even if they \u2064face backlash.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;But that&#8217;s the price\u2062 of leadership. You got to stand \u200dup and do what&#8217;s right,&#8221; the governor continued. &#8220;Clearly, he \u2063could have been fired from the White House Task Force. There was no obligation to\u2063 run him out\u2064 at press conference after press conference, have him doing media interviews.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>DeSantis has \u200dbeen a\u200d vocal critic of\u200d Fauci&#8217;s approach to\u2063 the pandemic, defying his \u200drecommendations\u2062 by reopening\u200b Florida&#8217;s businesses and easing \u2064restrictions earlier than most states. During an interview with Dave Rubin, DeSantis highlighted \u200bhis state&#8217;s handling of the pandemic as he campaigns for the White House.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;During the height of the COVID \u2062stuff in 2020, Fauci\u2064 would do local\u200b hits in Florida media attacking\u2062 me for having schools open\u2063 and some of these other stuff,&#8221; he said. &#8220;So, there was no obligation to \u200ddo that. I think you\u200d could have also\u2063 fired\u2063 him from NIH because he had basically committed misconduct with the gain of function.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump,\u2062 in response to DeSantis&#8217;s previous criticisms,\u2062 claimed that the governor actually &#8220;loves&#8221; Fauci.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;He shut down Florida. It was\u2064 tight as a \u200ddrum. He had vax lines. He\u2064 was vaxxing everything.\u2062 Now,\u200c he talks\u2064 about\u200d the vaccinations this and \u2062that,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;And let me tell you the other thing. I will send you, after\u2064 this conversation, five \u2064articles about how much\u2063 he loves \u200bDr. Fauci. &#8216;I do what Dr. Fauci \u200dsays. This is Ron DeSantimonious. I\u2064 do what\u200c Dr. \u200bFauci says.&#8217; \u2062That\u2019s what he says. And\u2064 I\u2019ve got the\u2064 articles here.
