She has asked\u200b the New York Supreme Court to sanction them with a $20,000 fine for their &#8220;previously-rejected arguments&#8221; \u200din \u200blegal motions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>      \u2063    According to \u200dcourt documents filed on Sept. \u200b5 (<a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23937502\/nyag-trump-sanctions-memo-9-23-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>), the state&#8217;s \u2064top prosecutor \u200dis \u200dseeking a\u200b $10,000\u200d fine for the 45th president \u2063and his \u200bco-defendants, as well as another $10,000\u2064 for his legal team.\u200b These fines are in\u2062 response to\u2062 what James calls \u200d&#8221;frivolous and sanctionable&#8221; motions.<br \/>\n\u200c\n    <\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<p>This\u2064 move is part of James&#8217; ongoing $250 million civil fraud suit against Trump \u2063and his\u200d associates. James\u200c emphasizes that\u200c the state court even deemed\u200c some of these arguments\u200b as &#8220;borderline frivolous&#8221; \u2063and criticizes the defendants&#8217; &#8220;sophisticated&#8221;\u2063 counsel, stating that they &#8220;should have known better.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While two motions are still awaiting\u200b a \u2062ruling as they were\u2064 recently \u200bfiled \u2064in August, James is determined to hold Trump accountable for his \u200balleged fraudulent actions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The attorney\u2063 general&#8217;s \u2063lawsuit follows a \u200ccomprehensive three-year investigation by her \u2064office,\u2063 involving\u2063 over 65 witnesses and the review of millions of pages of documents.\u2064 This is a\u2063 significant effort to uncover \u2062the\u2064 truth.<\/p>\n<h2>Democrats Pursue Trump Before Election<\/h2>\n<p>Former \u2063President Trump, who is running for the White House again in 2024 and is \u200cthe \u2064leading GOP \u2063candidate, vehemently denies \u200dany wrongdoing. His children,\u200c who\u2064 were also named in the\u2063 original\u2063 lawsuit, share the same stance.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Trump\u200b has consistently labeled the multiple cases brought against him by Democrat prosecutors as politically motivated\u2062 witch hunts. He \u2064has even made these indictments a\u200b central theme\u200d of his 2024\u2062 presidential campaign.<\/p>\n<p>In a\u2063 positive development for \u2062the Trump family, Ivanka Trump had her \u200ccharges dismissed by an appeals \u200ccourt\u2062 in June after \u200binitially being included in \u2062the civil suit.<\/p>\n<p>On Aug. 30, Letitia James&#8217; office requested the state\u200c court to determine if \u200dthe defendants inflated asset \u200cvalues and used\u2062 these exaggerated \u2063figures to defraud banks and insurers for personal gain.<\/p>\n<p>According to James, Trump \u2064and his \u200dorganization have fraudulently inflated\u2062 his net \u2064worth by billions of dollars every year since 2011. This is a serious accusation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>      \u200b     &#8220;Since\u200c at least 2011, Defendants and\u2064 others working on their behalf at the Trump Organization have falsely inflated by billions \u200dof dollars the value of many of the assets listed\u2062 on Donald J. Trump\u2019s annual statement of financial \u2063condition (&#8216;SFC&#8217;), \u2063and hence his overall net worth\u200b for each of \u2063these\u2063 years,&#8221; \u200bthe court filing\u200d stated (<a href=\"https:\/\/iapps.courts.state.ny.us\/fbem\/DocumentDisplayServlet?documentId=ug5960XEpNMksGWCbGdRDA==&#038;system=prod\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>).<br \/>\n  \u200d \u200b\n    <\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<p>James further accuses\u200c Trump&#8217;s company of engaging in \u200dnumerous acts of fraud and misrepresentation in\u200c the preparation\u2062 of \u2063his annual financial statements. These charges involve deceiving insurers, tax officials, \u2064and \u2062lenders by inflating property values, including \u2062his Mar-a-Lago\u200d estate in Palm Beach, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The court filing\u2064 asserts that there is undisputed evidence to support the\u200b allegations, making \u200ba trial unnecessary.\u2063 James believes that Trump should be held liable for fraud without a \u200btrial and that he and his sons should be removed from \u200ctheir positions in the family business.
