Congressional Attending Physician Dr.\u2062 Brian Monahan has released two \u2063statements about the 81-year-old \u2064Kentucky \u200bRepublican, saying, among \u2063other\u2063 things, that \u2063Mr. McConnell was cleared \u2064to\u200d continue working in the Senate and to keep his travel\u200d schedule.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    When pressed by reporters, \u2063Mr. McConnell\u200c said he thought that Dr. Monahan&#8217;s \u2064report would answer any &#8220;<strong>reasonable \u2063concerns<\/strong>&#8221; that anyone might have about his health.<\/p>\n<h2>McConnell&#8217;s Medical Reports<\/h2>\n<p>    \u200b  Dr. \u200bMonahan&#8217;s statement (<a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23933193\/medical-statement-regarding-leader-mcconnell-31-aug-2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) on\u2063 Aug. 31, one day after the senator&#8217;s second freezing\u2063 incident, reads: &#8220;<strong>I have consulted with Leader McConnell and\u200c conferred with his neurology team. After evaluating yesterday&#8217;s incident, I\u200b have informed Leader McConnell that he\u200d is medically clear to continue with his schedule as planned.<\/strong>&#8221;\n  <\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Occasional lightheadedness is not uncommon \u2063in concussion\u200b recovery and can also be \u200cexpected as\u2064 a result of dehydration.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    \u2063 \u200d A Sept. 5 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23936280-letter-regarding-leader-mcconnell-5-sept-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) report to Mr. McConnell from \u2064Dr. \u2062Monahan further\u200b clarified that he didn&#8217;t suffer a seizure when he froze up in front of reporters.\n  <\/div>\n<p>&#8220;My examination of \u2064you following your Aug. 30, 2023, brief episode included several \u2064medical \u2064evaluations: brain MRI imaging,\u2063 EEG study, and consultations with several neurologists for a \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mcconnell-did-not-suffer-seizure-stroke-when-he-froze-capitol-physician\/\" title=\"McConnell's Freeze Not Due to Seizure or Stroke: Capitol Doctor\">comprehensive neurology assessment<\/a>,&#8221; \u200bDr. Monahan\u2063 wrote.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is no evidence that you\u2063 have a \u2064seizure disorder or that\u2064 you experienced a stroke, TIA, or movement disorder such\u2064 as Parkinson&#8217;s disease. There are no \u2064changes recommended in \u200ctreatment protocols as you\u2064 continue recovery from your\u2064 March 2023 \u200dfall.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Epoch Times was\u2062 later \u200ctold by an aide that Mr. McConnell was &#8220;momentarily lightheaded,&#8221; which\u2063 caused him to pause during the event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While he feels fine, as\u200b a prudential measure, the \u2064leader will be\u200c consulting a physician \u2063prior to his next event,&#8221; the aide said.<\/p>\n<p>Later\u200c on\u2063 Aug.\u200b 30, the minority leader was photographed at an \u200cevent with Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), who&#8217;s running for Senate in Indiana.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.),\u2064 who&#8217;s also a\u200c physician, called \u200bthe\u200b health assessment\u200b into question,\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/jS9E4ALRz-0?si=0OVqc_7ayM5OHzu5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">telling<\/a> \u2062a group of reporters on Sept. 5: \u2064&#8221;<strong>I&#8217;ve practiced medicine\u200b for 25\u2062 years, and it doesn&#8217;t look like dehydration to me. It looks \u200clike a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mcconnell-vows-to-finish-term-as-gop-leader-amid-questions-over-health\/\" title=\"McConnell pledges to remain GOP leader despite health concerns.\">focal \u200dneurologic event<\/a>.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Earlier Events<\/h2>\n<p>    \u2062 That event came five weeks \u200dafter the first\u200c time\u200b the lawmaker\u200d &#8220;froze,&#8221; on July 26 during a press conference following the weekly Senate GOP policy luncheon.\n  <\/p><\/div>\n<p>Mr. McConnell was escorted away from\u200d the podium but returned shortly thereafter, and when asked about his condition, he said he \u200dwas &#8220;fine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A McConnell aide later told The\u200c Epoch Times that Mr.\u200b McConnell, who&#8217;s in his seventh\u200b term in the Senate, &#8220;felt\u200b lightheaded\u2062 and stepped away for a moment&#8221; and &#8220;came back \u200cto handle \u200bQ&#038;A, which, as everyone observed, \u2062was sharp.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u2062 McConnell, who \u200dsurvived \u2062polio as a child, \u200bsuffered a concussion and broken \u200dribs in March\u200c when he fell\u2064 at \u2062an\u2064 event in Washington.
