Then there\u2019s\u2064 a giant,\u2064 Biblical-style rainstorm and \u2062flood and no one bothered to bring enough wood to build an \u200bark.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i>\u201cSome Burning Man revelers said\u2063 Sunday their spirits remain unbroken.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Unfortunately, their toilets do remain broken. And so they are just sitting there in their own poop, screwing each other. It \u200dsounds \u200clike the height of human experience.<\/p>\n<p>The elites there treated it as though\u200d they escaped the beaches\u2064 at Normandy. You\u200d wonder why people don\u2019t trust \u2064the\u200c elite. You wonder why there\u2019s a giant cultural gap between \u200cthe Left Coast and the East Coast on one side and everybody in the \u2064middle \u2062of the country \u2062on the other.<\/p>\n<p>These \u200dmorons went \u200dout in the middle of the desert to worship their pagan selves and then got stuck in the mud? Well, \u2062that\u2019s a rough ride for you.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of Americans \u200dhave been dispossessed\u2063 of\u200c the \u2062Judeo-Christian architecture that used to \u200cundergird the \u200dUnited\u200d States of America.\u2062 They\u2019ve been dispossessed by a bunch of pagan morons \u200dwho believe that the actual value system is radical self-expression\u2062 and\u200b individualism. The great capitalists, from Adam Smith to John D. Rockefeller, \u200dunderstood that undergirding \u200bcapitalism was a Judeo-Christian\u200b value system. \u200cRockefeller went to a church and sat in the\u2062 pews next to people who were a fraction of his wealth.<\/p>\n<p>What used to unify the\u2063 country was a belief system that\u200d the elites held in common \u2064with the \u200dcommon man. It was\u2063 the same belief system \u200coverall. It was the \u200bradicals\u200d who were proclaiming the creed of radical self-expression. But now\u200c it\u2019s\u200b not the radicals \u2014 now it\u2019s the most powerful people \u2063in the society \u200dwho have \u200cbasically \u2063decided \u2064the reason they became\u2064 powerful is \u2064because they followed their star.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s not true. They\u2019re actually more likely to be married with kids than people who are not high earners in American society. But they promulgate the lowest \u200bvalues. When I\u200c say the \u200dlowest values, I mean like the hippies on the \u2063commune \u200dor\u2063 burning giant nine-foot \u200dtall statues.<\/p>\n<p>One of the weird elements of the United States is that the counterculture is no\u2064 longer the counterculture. It used to be that \u200dwe \u2064called people who did \u200bthings like Burning Man strange.<\/p>\n<p>But now, if you say they \u200care weirdos who\u200b are\u200b participating \u200din weird pagan mystic\u200b behavior, you \u2063are considered \u2062strange. You\u2019re considered\u200b part of the problem. You are intolerant.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200d counterculture \u200dis no longer the counterculture. It is, in\u200b fact, just the culture, which \u2062is why you see so\u2062 many rich and famous people going \u200bto Burning Man.<\/p>\n<p>It used to be that if you were a rich, famous person, you took yourself seriously enough that you didn\u2019t show \u2064up\u2063 in the\u2064 middle of the desert \u2064with nothing\u200c but a hammer and then\u2064 go to the Orgy \u200dDome all day. \u200bIt\u200b used to \u2063be that serious people in our culture\u2063 were \u2062serious.<\/p>\n<p>You get all of the tech\u200c billionaires \u200bwho show\u2064 up \u200bat Burning Man and then\u200d proclaim \u2063they have \u2062allegiance to these\u200d sorts of principles. Then others adopt the principles, and then it becomes the culture in which they swim.<\/p>\n<h3>WATCH: The \u2063Ben Shapiro Show<\/h3>\n<p>It used to be that\u2063 if \u2063you showed up at Burning\u2064 Man, you showed up \u200dwith a bunch of plywood and a hammer; now,\u200c if you are a rich person, you\u2064 show up \u200bat a \u2063turnkey camp.\u2062 According to Mashable, the festival offered luxury amenities, cleaning staff and chefs, while reportedly wreaking havoc on the \u2064environment\u200b by chartering\u200d flights to get there.<\/p>\n<p>You have an entire elite strata of our\u200b society that hates itself and that is\u200d constantly seeking to signal\u2062 to everybody else how much it hates itself by doing things like going to Burning Man. They don\u2019t \u200dseek to exemplify the behavior that everybody else\u2062 should engage\u2064 in. And if they\u200b do, they\u2064 believe\u200b their behavior should \u2064be \u2063this hippie garbage\u2064 and \u200dwe should\u200c all\u2064 just laugh and giggle \u200balong with them as they go to\u200d their Sodom and \u2064Gomorrah-style pleasure dome.<\/p>\n<p>The principles of Burning Man look like a religion. Burning \u2064Man\u2019s 10 principles declare:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i>\u201cAnyone may be a part of \u2064Burning Man. We welcome and respect the stranger. No prerequisites exist for participation in our community.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That\u2019s a lie. \u200dIf you show \u2064up as a Bible thumper, I guarantee\u200b you you\u2019re not going to be welcome over at Burning Man, where \u2062no \u2062one has a \u200bshower, but \u2064they\u2019re all \u2062having sex with one another.<\/p>\n<p>Burning Man\u2019s principles also state:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i>\u201cOur community respects the environment. We are committed to leaving no physical trace of our activities wherever we gather. We clean up after ourselves \u200dand endeavor, whenever\u2064 possible, to leave \u200bsuch places in \u2064a better state than when we found them.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That is wildly untrue. It turns out that Burning Man \u2062has had a\u200d bad history \u200bover the \u200dpast few years of leaving garbage strewn along \u200dthe highways as people careen\u2064 out \u2062of there as fast as \u2062possible.<\/p>\n<p>Contrast the \u200bTen Commandments of \u200cBurning Man \u200dwith the actual Ten Commandments, things like respect thy father and \u2064mother,\u200c remember the Sabbath and keep it holy, don\u2019t commit murder, don\u2019t commit adultery, don\u2019t commit idolatry. One of these sets of rules has built a civilization that has lasted\u2063 for \u200cliterally thousands \u2063of years.\u2063 The other set of rules lasted until a heavy rainstorm.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps that\u2019s the real story\u200c of Noah\u2019s Ark, that \u2064the rain wasn\u2019t all that heavy. \u2064Maybe \u2062the society was just not durable. In\u2064 the absence of God, paganism rules. It is not that there is no God, it\u2019s that \u200bthere are many gods. And these gods typically involve self- worship, \u200bwhich is where\u200c things currently\u200c stand. This idolatry is idolatry of the self.<\/p>\n<p>We celebrate a \u2064holiday in Judaism that\u2019s coming up shortly called Sukkot. You build a hut outside your\u200c house and\u2063 you are \u2064supposed to live in it for a week. \u2064The purpose of it \u200cis to \u2063remind you that\u200c you are at the mercy of God. You\u2019re supposed\u2063 to build the hut so you \u2063can see the stars through the \u2064roof. It\u2019s open to \u2063the rain. The whole purpose of\u2062 it \u200cis to\u2063 remind you that while you \u200bare a\u2062 physical\u2062 creature, there \u2062is\u2062 something\u200d more\u2063 spiritual \u2063to you\u200b than that.<\/p>\n<p>The idea\u200c is\u2062 that when you decorate \u2062all the physical surroundings \u200daround\u200d you, that\u2019s not the essential you. So then, what\u2064 is the essential you?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unity with \u200bGod.
