Colton Moore \u200bremains unwavering\u2062 in\u2064 his efforts to defund Fulton County \u200dDistrict Attorney Fani Willis, despite facing\u200c opposition from fellow \u200bRepublican legislators.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Moore is pushing for\u2063 a special session\u2063 of the Georgia Assembly to defund Ms. Willis&#8217;s \u200boffice \u200band \u2062launch an investigation into her professional conduct regarding the prosecution of President Donald Trump for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-says-killer-vladimir-putin-will-pay-a-price-for-election-interference\/\" title=\"Biden Says \u2018Killer\u2019 Vladimir Putin \u2018Will Pay A Price\u2019 For Election Interference\">alleged election interference<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To make the special session happen, Sen. \u2063Moore needs the support of three-fifths of each legislative chamber. Moore told The Epoch Times.\u200c \u201cI only have three signatures\u2062 on this. We\u2019ve been at this now for three\u2064 weeks. I\u2019m gaining a signature a \u2064week\u2014at \u200dthat rate, we don\u2019t make it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Sen. Moore remains undeterred in his mission to hold the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/radical-cultural-change-coming-to-america\/\" title=\"Radical Cultural Change Coming to America?\">district attorney<\/a> accountable, even\u200d if it means facing sanctions from\u200b his\u200d fellow senators.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    \u201cMake my\u200d day, \u2063because I will let no fellow senator, I \u200cwill let no Republican caucus stand in the way of my \u200dvalid effort to fight for freedom,\u201d he said. \u201cWe swore an oath to the Constitution \u2064to protect it, \u2063uphold it, and I look at Fani Willis and my constituents look at Fani Willis\u200b as a domestic threat to that Constitution.\u201d\n  <\/p><\/div>\n<h2><strong>Politically Charged<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Ms. Willis is currently\u2062 prosecuting President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants for their alleged involvement in\u2062 a racketeering conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020\u200b presidential election \u200din Georgia.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-state-lawmaker-steadfast-in-push-to-defund-da-fani-willis-despite-lack-of-gop-support\/\" title=\"Georgia State Lawmaker Remains Committed to Defunding DA Fani Willis Despite GOP Opposition.\">98-page indictment includes 41 charges<\/a>, such as violation of Georgia\u2019s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO)\u200c Act, solicitation\u200b of violation of oath by a \u2062public officer, forgery, \u2064and impersonating a public officer.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">All 19 defendants have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/all-19-defendants-plead-not-guilty-waive-arraignments-in-georgia-election-case-5486620\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pleaded \u2064not guilty<\/a>.<\/div>\n<p>This\u2064 is the fourth\u2063 indictment brought against the 45th president in just over four months. President Trump maintains that these charges are politically\u200b motivated to hinder his presidential ambitions.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">As a Georgia State Senator, I am officially calling for an emergency session to review the actions of Fani Willis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>America is under attack. Moore shares this\u2064 view, calling the indictment &#8220;absolutely ridiculous.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2064 just makes your blood boil \u2062when Mark \u200dMeadows is being\u200c charged in a racketeering conspiracy\u2064 for simply visiting an election site where they were counting votes,\u201d he said. \u201cYou know,\u2064 some of the \u200cevidence \u2064is nothing \u200cmore than a tweet calling the election\u200c fraudulent. So, these individuals\u2019\u200c First Amendment \u200brights were violated, and this district attorney is using my constituents\u2019 tax money to fund this type of political \u200bpersecution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Moore also questions \u2063whether Ms. Willis has the \u200djurisdiction to bring this case, as many of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-white-house-chief-of-staff-white-mark-meadows-files-to-move-fulton-county-case-to-federal-court\/\" title=\"Ex-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows seeks to transfer Fulton County case to federal court.\">alleged crimes\u200b occurred<\/a> at the Georgia State Capitol.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\u201cWe as a legislature should be\u2063 arguing whether that\u2019s the jurisdiction of the\u200d attorney general,\u201d he contended.<\/div>\n<h2><strong>\u2018No\u200c Time to Wait\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>President Trump has expressed support\u2062 for Sen.\u2062 Moore&#8217;s \u2064efforts to\u2063 investigate Ms. Willis, commending the senator \u200cfor his &#8220;courage and conviction.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However,\u200b despite the backing from the former president, other state lawmakers have yet to join the cause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepublicans are the ones standing in the way,\u201d Sen. Moore said. \u2062\u201cI only have three\u200d signatures on this.\u200b We\u2019ve been at this now for three weeks. I\u2019m gaining a signature a week\u2014at\u2063 that rate,\u200b we\u2063 don\u2019t make it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that those Republicans who have not supported action against Ms. Willis are \u200cdefying\u2063 the wishes \u200bof their constituents. For example, in \u2064Chatham County, the Republican Party unanimously voted to support Sen. Moore&#8217;s efforts, yet Republican state Sen. Ben\u200c Watson has not signed on for the special session.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. \u200bMoore believes this reluctance is due to opposition from Republican Gov.\u2062 Brian \u2062Kemp.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now, they\u2019re being pushed up\u2014by constituents, by the people that they represent\u2014they\u2019re being pushed\u200d up against the governor,\u200d and \u200cit\u2019s a difficult position for them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Last week, during a press briefing on Georgia\u2019s Hurricane Idalia response efforts, Gov. Kemp <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/georgia-governor-denies-special-session-to-remove-fulton-da-fani-willis-over-election-interference-5484268\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rejected<\/a> the call for \u2063a special session, stating that its proposed purpose was \u201cnot feasible\u201d under Georgia law and \u201cmay ultimately\u2064 prove to be unconstitutional.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe have a law in the\u200c state of Georgia that clearly outlines the legal steps that can be taken if constituents\u200c believe their local \u200cprosecutors are violating their oath \u2063by engaging in unethical or illegal behavior,\u201d he said on Aug. 31. \u201cAs\u2063 long as I am governor, we\u2019re going \u2064to follow the \u2062law and the Constitution, regardless of who it\u200c helps or \u200charms politically.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The governor also mentioned that he had \u201cnot seen any evidence\u201d \u200cwarranting a review of Ms. Willis&#8217;s conduct by the \u2063state&#8217;s Prosecuting Attorneys\u200b Qualifications\u2063 Commission, an oversight commission \u200destablished under a recently enacted \u2062law.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of supporting a\u2064 special session, some state legislators have suggested filing complaints with the commission. However, \u2063Sen.
