(Photo by Justin Sullivan\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Ongoing Rise in Cancer Diagnoses Among Those Under 50<\/h2>\n<p>OAN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/tag\/brooke-mallory\">Brooke Mallory<\/a><br \/>2:24 PM \u2013\u2062 Wednesday, September 6, 2023<\/p>\n<p>According to\u200b research that was published \u2064on Tuesday, red meat, salt, and alcohol\u200d are some\u2064 of the factors being blamed for the \u200bongoing rise in cancer\u2063 diagnoses among those under 50.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/bmjoncology.bmj.com\/content\/2\/1\/e000049.info\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bmjoncology.bmj.com\/content\/2\/1\/e000049.info\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a> \u200c that was published on \u2062Tuesday by BMJ Oncology highlighted analytical data from 1990 and 2019 \u2063and found a 79% increase \u2063in the number of new cancer diagnoses among those under 50 \u200dover \u2063the course of three decades.<\/p>\n<p>However, the percentage has \u2062likely risen since 2019, which was also noted by one researcher on social media. Findings from 2023 \u2062have not \u200byet been \u200bpublished. \u2062 <\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the findings suggested that a \u201cWestern\u200d diet,\u201d which includes red meat, a lot of salt, insufficient amounts of fruit and milk, lack of exercise, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/covid-19-can-make-the-brain-age-by-2-decades-heres-1-way-to-reverse-aging\/\" title=\"COVID-19 Can Make the Brain Age by 2 Decades; Here\u2019s 1 Way to Reverse Aging\">high body mass index<\/a>, raised blood sugar, alcohol use, cigarette use, as well as other \u200dcharacteristics, \u2063were emphasized as cancer risk factors for people under 50.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers examined the number of new cases, fatalities, subsequent health effects, and risk factors for adults aged 14 to 49 using\u2064 information from the Global Burden of Disease 2019 \u2063project, which examined the incidence of 29 malignancies in \u200b204 countries and regions.<\/p>\n<p>A\u2063 group \u200dof researchers \u2064from Zhejiang University School of Medicine and the University of Edinburgh\u2019s Usher Institute, \u200cstated that there were 3.26 million early-onset cancer cases in \u200bthat age range in 2019 alone, a rise of\u200c 79.1% since 1990.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the cancers with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-falling-u-s-life-expectancy-may-be-telling-us-about-the-pandemic-response\/\" title=\"What the Falling U.S. Life expectancy may be telling us about the Pandemic Response\">higher death rates<\/a> were those of the breast, trachea, \u200blung,\u200b colon,\u2063 and stomach.<\/p>\n<p>The study\u2019s authors\u2063 also noted a 27.7% increase in \u200ccancer-related mortality\u2064 since 1990.<\/p>\n<p>They observed that while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cancer-in-people-under-50-surges-by-at-least-79-researchers-blame-alcohol-and-meat\/\" title=\"Alcohol and meat blamed as cancer cases soar by 79% in under 50s.\">early-onset liver cancer rates decreased<\/a>, incidences of windpipe and prostate cancer increased significantly since 1990. Breast cancer had the\u200d highest rate\u2063 of early-onset cases.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Australasia and Western Europe, North America was identified as having one of the\u2062 highest rates of early-onset malignancies in 2019. The\u2062 highest cancer death rates were also \u2064seen in Eastern Europe, Oceania, and Central Asia.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe rising incidence of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-test-detects-14-cancer-types-at-stage-i-when-most-curable\/\" title=\"New Test Detects 14 Cancer Types at Stage I, When Most Curable\">early-onset cancers<\/a> may partially attribute to increasing uptake of screening and early detection\u200d in developed\u200b regions and countries,\u201d the study\u2019s authors wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, the rise in detections may also have a positive side, as author Dr. Xue \u2063Li of\u00a0the Centre for Global Health at the University of Edinburgh\u2019s Usher Institute emphasized \u200cthat \u201coutstanding\u201d\u2063 screening programs had\u200b reduced the number of early-onset cancer-related \u2064fatalities there.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cFortunately, the annual mortality rate from early-onset\u200b cancer in the UK has been steadily decreasing, a testament to the outstanding cancer screening and\u2064 treatment efforts over the past three decades,\u201d said Li.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Researchers predicted that early-onset cancer \u200ddiagnoses could rise by 31% and fatalities by 21% by the year 2030 if the tendencies they \u200chad found persisted. <\/p>\n<p>The authors also stated that differences in cancer incidence \u200band mortality rates by region might be brought on\u200b by \u201clocal environment, lifestyle, and level\u200c of available medical treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
