Advertisers will now \u200cbe required to disclose if their ads include AI-generated images, according to a policy update set to be implemented in mid-November.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/communist-chinas-tiktok-dethrones-google-as-worlds-most-popular-domain\/\" title=\"Communist China's TikTok Dethrones Google as World's Most Popular Domain\">search engine giant<\/a> will mandate that\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/google-to-require-disclosures-on-ai-generated-election-ads\/\" title=\"Google will mandate disclosures for AI-generated election ads.\">election-focused ads explicitly state<\/a> whether they contain AI-generated imagery. For \u200cinstance, ads featuring AI images must include \u2064visible statements such as &#8220;This audio was\u200b computer-generated&#8221; or &#8220;This image does not \u200breflect \u2063real events,&#8221; as reported\u200c by \u2064Bloomberg.<\/p>\n<h3>Supporting Responsible Political Advertising<\/h3>\n<p>Google spokesperson Michael Aciman stated that this policy update &#8220;will help further \u2064support \u200dresponsible political advertising and provide voters with\u200c the information they \u200bneed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/oregon-governor-encourages-people-to-call-police-on-neighbors-violating-covid-orders\/\" title=\"Oregon Governor Encourages People To Call Police On Neighbors Violating COVID Orders\">make informed decisions<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, the policy does not extend to videos uploaded to YouTube that are not paid \u2062advertising, even \u2064if they are uploaded by political campaigns. Google clarified that YouTube&#8217;s community guidelines, \u2063which prohibit digitally manipulated content\u200c that\u2062 could cause public \u2064harm, \u2064would remove any content posted to the platform \u200dif AI is \u2063used \u2064improperly.<\/p>\n<h3>Addressing Concerns Over Deepfakes<\/h3>\n<p>The use of generative AI \u2062in election ads has prompted tech\u2064 companies\u200b and federal regulators \u2064to establish guidelines. In August, the Federal Election Commission\u2062 voted \u200dto consider\u2062 a petition that would broaden the definition of\u200b &#8220;fraudulent misrepresentation&#8221; to include deepfakes, which are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fec-takes-first-step-toward-rules-on-artificial-intelligence-deepfakes-in-campaign-ads\/\" title=\"FEC initiates regulations for AI deepfakes in campaign ads.\">digitally altered images designed<\/a> to \u2063spread false information.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, at least two presidential candidates have utilized AI-generated images in their\u200d political campaigns. Former President Donald Trump featured AI-generated images of himself, while Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) released an \u2063ad with \u2063fabricated\u2062 pictures of Trump\u200b embracing Anthony Fauci.<\/p>\n<p>Google has\u200c previously taken measures to prevent the dissemination of false claims through election ads. In 2018, the company implemented an identity verification \u2063process for users.
