that occurred &#8220;immediately after receiving new\u2064 counsel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>In March, the employee had told the grand \u200djury he did not have conversations about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-federal-charges-same-dominance-trump-hangs-on-to-front-runner-status\/\" title=\"Trump maintains front-runner status despite new federal charges.\">deleting security footage<\/a> at \u2062Mar-a-Lago, but later he provided information that &#8220;implicated Nauta, De Oliveira, and Trump in efforts \u2062to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/donald-trump-indicted-who-is-carlos-de-oliveira\/\" title=\"Carlos De Oliveira: The man behind Donald Trump's indictment.\">delete security camera footage<\/a>,&#8221; Mr. Smith&#8217;s office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23924535-special-counsel-filing-in-trump-case\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to\u200b the filing, the employee has now testified in Florida court saying he was not coached to give his earlier testimony to the grand jury that convened in Washington, and no one had suggested or influenced what he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>&#8220;To that \u200dend, Trump Employee 4 did not retract false \u200ctestimony and provide information that implicated Mr. Nauta, &#8216;[i]mmediately after receiving new counsel,'&#8221;\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/docket\/67490071\/144\/united-states-v-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> Mr. Woodward and Sasha Dadan, attorneys for\u200b Mr. Nauta. They wrote in the new filing that the\u2063 change in testimony did not come because of a change in the lawyer\u2063 representing him, as the prosecution suggests.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Rather, after the\u200d Special Counsel&#8217;s Office issued\u200d a target letter on June \u200d20, 2023, threatening Trump Employee 4 with prosecution &#8230; at the hearing, Trump\u2063 Employee 4 expressed a \u2063desire for counsel to advise him in navigating the threatened prosecution\u200d against him,&#8221; they wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/employee-4-witness-in-trump-classified-documents-case-reached-deal-with-prosecutors-ex-lawyer-says\/\" title=\"'Employee 4' in Trump classified documents case strikes deal with prosecutors, says ex-lawyer.\">motion quotes transcripts<\/a> in which the employee was appointed a public defender to represent him, which\u200c Mr. Woodward was\u200c not against.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Smith&#8217;s office then &#8220;immediately offered Trump Employee 4 a Non-Prosecution Agreement,&#8221; Mr. Woodward\u2063 wrote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>He argued in an earlier filing that his former client had not lied under oath, and even if he had provided conflicting information &#8220;that\u2063 could expose him to criminal \u2062charges&#8221; he had &#8220;other recourses besides reaching a plea bargain with the government.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Use of\u200b DC Grand Jury in Florida Case<\/h2>\n<p>The attorneys now allege that the conflict of interest motions filed in Washington were meant to influence the case now being tried in federal court \u200bin Florida.\u200b They claim the prosecution&#8217;s &#8220;manipulation&#8221; of the Washington court and \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-says-he-received-target-letter-in-federal-j6-probe-from-jack-smith\/\" title=\"Trump claims he got target letter in J6 probe from Jack Smith.\">grand jury \u200cinvestigation<\/a> &#8220;achieved its penultimate goal&#8221; in \u200bdiminishing the Florida\u200c court&#8217;s authority.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;The argument of the Special Counsel&#8217;s Office, that it did not use the D.C. \u2062grand jury for the purpose of adding to\u200d the store of witnesses in the\u2062 instant case, is unpersuasive,&#8221; they wrote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>The special counsel had previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/jack-smith-ends-dc-grand-jury-in-trump-documents-case-after-grilling-by-judge-5479242\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">agreed to end<\/a> the grand jury investigation in Washington to use in the Florida case after District Judge Aileen Cannon \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/audio\/us\/judge-demands-special-counsel-explain-why-he-used-dc-grand-jury-in-trump-documents-case-5448895\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">questioned<\/a> Mr.<br \/>\n\u2064\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The unidentified employee, who altered his testimony, has made a deal with special counsel Jack Smith&#8217;s team.
