She is seeking\u2063 $250 million in damages and \u200dwants to prevent him from doing business in the state. President Trump vehemently denies these claims\u2062 and\u2063 accuses James of defamation.<\/p>\n<p>In response, President Trump&#8217;s legal team\u200c has tried to have the case dismissed, arguing that the\u200c alleged deals took place too long ago to be brought to \u200ccourt now. They have even released a transcript of a seven-hour deposition where President Trump answered questions about the value of his\u200b properties and his role in \u200dthe business.<\/p>\n<p>However, James is\u200d not backing down. In a recent filing, she requested the judge to sanction the defendants\u2063 and their \u2064lawyers for repeating arguments that had already been rejected. The Trump attorneys, on the other hand, asked for the withdrawal of what they deemed a \u200d&#8221;frivolous&#8221; motion for sanctions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>    The lawsuit also involves President Trump&#8217;s adult sons, Donald Trump Jr. and\u200d Eric Trump. Ivanka Trump, however, has been dismissed from the suit. President Trump has consistently \u200bmaintained \u200chis innocence and believes\u2063 the case is politically motivated.<br \/>\n\u2062    \u200d<\/p>\n<h2>Countersuit, Delay Requests<\/h2>\n<p>    Both\u200c countersuit and previous delay requests from President Trump&#8217;s side have failed.\n  <\/p><\/div>\n<p>Letitia James initially filed the case against President Trump in September 2022. He later \u200cattempted \u200dto move it to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-court-is-fast-tracking-sidney-powells-request-for-a-forensic-exam-of-dominion-voting-machines\/\" title=\"Federal Court Is Fast-Tracking Sidney Powell\u2019s Request For A Forensic Exam Of Dominion Voting Machines\">federal court<\/a> and requested a pause in the proceedings. However, these motions were denied.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump&#8217;s attorneys argued that James&#8217; investigations were not driven by legitimate law enforcement goals but rather by political animus. They claimed that her mission was to harass and retaliate against a political opponent.<\/p>\n<p>In January, \u2064President Trump dropped\u2062 the case. On the same day, Judge John Middlebrooks,\u200c an appointee of President Bill Clinton,\u2064 sanctioned him and his attorney for $900,000 over what he \u200bdeemed\u200b a &#8220;frivolous&#8221; lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and others \u200dregarding &#8220;Russiagate&#8221; claims.<\/p>\n<p>Judge \u2064Middlebrooks criticized President\u2064 Trump for a &#8220;continuing pattern of misuse\u2064 of the courts&#8221; and warned that the lawsuit \u200dagainst James was &#8220;vexatious and frivolous.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In March, a request to delay the case was also rejected.
