But in the absence\u2062 of evidence, you shouldn&#8217;t be forcing anybody to do so,&#8221; said Tom Jefferson, one of the authors of the review.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Despite the controversy, the school&#8217;s decision aligns with the Montgomery \u200dCounty school district policy, which states that masks are optional with exceptions.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The district mandates masks for individuals recovering from\u2062 a COVID-19 infection and\u2063 in outbreak situations,\u2064 following recommendations from the U.S. Centers for\u200c Disease Control and Prevention\u2062 (CDC).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Dr. Patricia Kapunan, the district&#8217;s\u2064 health officer, emphasized the importance of \u200bmaintaining access to in-person learning.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC also recommends \u200bwearing masks in certain situations,\u2063 including when individuals have been exposed to a positive\u200b case \u200dor in\u2064 jurisdictions\u200d with medium or \u200bhigh COVID-19 hospital admission rankings.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>However, the CDC&#8217;s recommendations differ from those of other health entities, such as the World Health Organization,\u2062 which advises against masking children under 6.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that the CDC has not updated its \u2062masking\u2062 guidance since 2022.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>While\u200b some institutions have \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/maryland-elementary-school-mandates-masks-for-some-children\/\" title=\"Maryland elementary school requires masks for select students.\">recently imposed mask mandates<\/a>, the decision to require masks\u200c in schools remains a topic of debate.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. \u2063Anthony Fauci, \u200ba prominent\u200c figure in the fight against COVID-19, hopes that people will\u2062 follow the CDC&#8217;s recommendations and\u2063 consider the risks to themselves and their families.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>mask mandate for certain students at Rosemary Hills Elementary School in Silver Spring, Maryland.
