With two decades of federal service, including 17 years in the inspector\u2064 general community, Rodas answered the Biden \u2064administration&#8217;s call to assist with the border crisis and the surge of\u200d unaccompanied minors.<\/p>\n<h3>Unveiling the Dark Truth<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Mr. \u200cJekielek:<\/strong> How did you discover what you\u2019ve\u2063 call government-sponsored,\u2063 taxpayer-funded child \u2063trafficking?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tara Rodas:<\/strong> At the\u2063 beginning of 2001, the Biden administration reached out to\u2063 federal employees for assistance at the border. They specifically needed employees \u2064who could \u2063work with children and\u200d help place them with sponsors\u2064 in the United States. Eager to\u200c help, I thought\u200d I would be a welcoming\u2063 face for these children. Little did I know that the \u200bchildren themselves had \u2062no idea who \u2064they were \u200dbeing sent to.<\/p>\n<p>As I \u2062delved \u200dinto \u200dcase\u200b management, it didn&#8217;t take long\u200c for me to realize that something was amiss. The children were crying, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nigerian-man-pleads-guilty-in-online-dating-money-laundering-scheme-feds-say\/\" title=\"Nigerian Man Pleads Guilty In Online Dating Money Laundering Scheme, Feds Say\">case managers<\/a> were distressed.\u2064 They couldn&#8217;t \u2063understand why these children were being sent to people they didn&#8217;t know. One case manager \u200cwas even hospitalized due to the stress of suspecting child trafficking.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s when we started investigating the\u200d work of contract case managers. I wanted \u2062to see the IDs and\u2064 match them with the paperwork of the intended recipients.<\/p>\n<p>It became clear that \u2062this so-called &#8220;family \u200breunification&#8221; was a sham. How could\u2063 it be reunification if the children didn&#8217;t even know who they were going to? \u200cWe \u200cwere\u2063 supposed to keep these children safe, but within\u2062 a mere 10 to 14\u200c days, we were sending them off\u2064 to unvetted individuals and\u200b homes. \u200dIt simply didn&#8217;t make\u2064 sense.<\/p>\n<p>Let \u2063me share an example from one of the cases. \u200bWe sent\u2062 a 15-year-old girl to her \u200b20-something brother. Later, \u200bwe discovered that the birth certificates\u2064 he \u200dprovided were \u200dfor a \u2063brother and sister, just not for themselves.\u200d He posted pictures of \u200dhimself and the girl, trying \u200cto portray a loving sibling relationship. But then\u200d he posted another \u2064photo of her, all \u200cdolled up with her \u2064shirt\u2062 unbuttoned.\u2062 It was clear that she\u2064 was being sold.<\/p>\n<h3>A Shocking\u200b Lack\u2063 of Accountability<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Mr. Jekielek:<\/strong> So no one is actually checking who the sponsors are?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tara Rodas:<\/strong> As \u200bI mentioned during the congressional hearing,\u2063 it baffled me that no one was holding the sponsors accountable. \u2063The\u200d majority of these sponsors\u200c have no \u200dlegal presence in the United States. \u2063They are here under false \u2064pretenses, and \u200dyet we \u200bare delivering these vulnerable \u200bchildren directly to their\u200c doorstep. The government is even footing the bill for\u200c their flights\u200b and bus tickets. In essence, we are incentivizing the traffickers,\u200c who view these children as commodities \u2064and make millions \u2062of dollars \u2063off of \u200cthem.<\/p>\n<h3>Fighting for Justice<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Mr. Jekielek:<\/strong> Please tell us about your attempts\u2063 to disclose this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tara Rodas:<\/strong> \u200dWhen we first brought \u200dforward a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/children-for-sale-unaccompanied-minors-sent-to-traffickers-not-family-members\/\" title=\"Children Sold: Unaccompanied Minors Trafficked Instead of Reuniting with Family\">suspicious sponsor activity case<\/a>, \u200dpeople seemed\u2064 excited that we had uncovered\u2063 this information. We identified an individual\u200b who had been associated with six different addresses and had accumulated multiple children over time.<\/p>\n<p>We realized\u200d that we needed to look for sponsors \u200bwho were\u2064 taking\u2064 in multiple children\u200c and different \u2062individuals sponsoring at the\u200b same \u2063address. This was in June 2021.<\/p>\n<p>By\u2064 July, I was in\u2064 contact\u2062 with law enforcement. However, after we identified a major case in Austin, one of the case managers informed me\u200d that we \u2062were\u2063 sending another child to that \u200dsame location,\u200c which \u2062we \u2063had already flagged as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/northern-border-state-with-a-southern-border-problem-montana-reeling-as-fentanyl-seizures-skyrocket\/\" title=\"\u2018Northern Border State With A Southern Border Problem\u2019: Montana Reeling As Fentanyl Seizures Skyrocket\">trafficking hotspot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a\u200c state of\u2064 urgency, I \u200crushed to the \u2062command center where\u2064 the executives were located. I informed them that\u200c we had a child \u200bon \u200bthe manifest going\u2063 to a known <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/oregon-dem-quietly-scrubs-ties-to-political-ally-nabbed-in-sex-trafficking-sting\/\" title=\"Oregon Dem Quietly Scrubs Ties to Political Ally Nabbed in Sex Trafficking Sting\">trafficking site<\/a>. To my shock, the response I received was, &#8220;Tara, you\u200b do\u2064 understand that \u200dwe only get sued\u2064 if we \u2062keep kids in care too long? We don&#8217;t get sued by \u2063traffickers.&#8221; The\u200c executive\u200c then leaned in and said,\u2062 &#8220;We don&#8217;t get sued by traffickers. Are we clear?&#8221; \u200bIt was at that moment I realized\u200b their priority was meeting quotas, moving\u200c children quickly, and prioritizing speed over safety.<\/p>\n<p>I fervently\u2063 hope that Congress \u2062takes swift action, as children are \u200dbeing sold for sex while \u2064we speak.
