President \u2064Trump is hosting a $100,000-a-head fundraiser for Mr. Giuliani at\u2062 his Bedminster, New\u200c Jersey, golf club \u2064on Sept. 7.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode post-related-videos\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">His son,\u200d Andrew Giuliani, set up\u2064 a \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-says-hed-give-ukraine-more-than-they-ever-got-if-russias-putin-doesnt-accept-peace-deal\/\" title=\"Trump promises Ukraine greater support if Putin rejects peace deal.\">political \u2063action committee<\/a> (PAC) called Giuliani Defense last month, but it\u2019s not clear how \u2064successful it has been \u2064since it isn\u2019t due yet to file its financial disclosures. Its \u2062treasurer, Robert Kiger, hasn\u2019t responded to emailed questions by \u200dpress \u2063time.<\/div>\n<h2>Crowdfunding Ups and\u200b Downs<\/h2>\n<p>The\u200c most successful on the crowdfunding front has been John Eastman, former dean and professor at\u200c Chapman University&#8217;s law school. He\u2019s raised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.givesendgo.com\/Eastman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">over $520,000<\/a> since launching his campaign about two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u2063 Eastman \u2064served as a lawyer to President \u2062Trump in several 2020 election challenges.\u2062 He \u2063devised a strategy of using alternative slates of electors in contested states in order to have \u200dthe Vice President reject the official electors.<\/p>\n<p>Harrison Floyd, former head \u200bof Black Voices for Trump, \u2064has been the surprise crowdfunding runner-up, raising nearly $300,000 in \u200dless than two weeks. The \u2062U.S. Marines veteran living off a disability pension surrendered himself at the notorious Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on Aug. 24, telling the judge\u200b he didn\u2019t have money for a Georgia\u2062 lawyer \u2064or bond. He was\u2063 declared a\u200b flight risk and put \u200cin \u2063jail.<\/p>\n<p>His \u2064case drew\u200d media\u200d attention, and as his fundraising campaign\u2062 went online, donations poured \u200din. By Aug. \u206426, he\u2062 had\u200b a lawyer and a bond motion filed. He was out of jail by Aug. 30 and since then has been doing rounds on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/brad-slager-despite-davos-denials-it-is-not-a-conspiracy-bugs-are-in-fact-on-the-menu\/\" title=\"Brad Slager: Despite Davos Denials, It Is Not A Conspiracy \u2013 Bugs Are, in Fact, on the Menu\">conservative talk shows<\/a>, even considering a run for Congress.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Nearly $200,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.givesendgo.com\/supportjenna\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has come \u2062in<\/a> \u2063 so far for Jenna Ellis, former legal adviser to President Trump, who has since switched \u2062to the camp of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis,\u200b who\u2019s running against President\u2062 Trump in 2024. She\u2019s unlikely to receive any support from\u2064 the former president.<\/div>\n<p>Ray Smith, III, \u2064President Trump\u2019s lead\u200d attorney during \u200cthe \u20632020 election \u200din Georgia, has\u2064 raised around \u200b$150,000.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\u201cSmith fought tirelessly and advocated zealously for President \u2062Trump, the Georgia Republican Party, and the Constitution of the\u200c United States of America and is now\u200c being persecuted and prosecuted for\u2064 defending \u200dfreedom and upholding\u200d his ethical and professional duty in representing his clients,\u201d the campaign page <a href=\"https:\/\/www.givesendgo.com\/RaySmith\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">says<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Jeff Clark, the former Department of Justice (DOJ) \u2063official\u2062 who\u200c helped President \u2064Trump in attempts to have the DOJ declare the 2020 election corrupt, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.givesendgo.com\/jeffclark\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">raised<\/a> over $60,000.<\/div>\n<p>Other defendants haven\u2019t \u2063had much success, though.<\/p>\n<p>David\u2064 Shafer, former head of\u200b Georgia GOP and one of the \u200balternative electors, raised just \u2063over $20,000 \u200donline. He\u2019s also trying to pull in some cash through monetizing\u200b his X account with over 60,000 followers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\u201cEvery time you like, share, or reply to\u2062 one \u200cof my posts, you help \u2063fund my legal defense. Please do not \u2064let me down, trolls. Your clever prison jokes could save me from financial ruin,\u201d he said in a Sept. 4 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DavidShafer\/status\/16987035506818950934\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Cathy Latham, also an alternative elector and \u2063former county GOP head in Georgia,\u2063 has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.givesendgo.com\/cathy_latham\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">raised<\/a> just over $18,000 so far.<\/div>\n<p>Sidney Powell, former federal prosecutor who challenged the 2020 election on President Trump\u2019s behalf\u200b though she wasn\u2019t officially part of his legal team, has received less than $8,000 in \u2064donations from the online campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Her PAC, Defending the Republic, finished \u2062the first half of 2023 \u2063with\u2062 some $170,000 \u200bcash on hand, but it seems it hasn\u2019t been involved in \u200bcovering her legal fees.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Powell didn\u2019t immediately respond to a request for\u200c comment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Misty Hayes, a former Elections Supervisor \u200dof Coffee County, \u2064Georgia, has raised just over $1,000 for her\u2063 defense. She aided the attempt to have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/in-trump-georgia-case-defendants-rely-on-donations-for-legal-expenses\/\" title=\"Defendants in Trump Georgia Case seek donations for legal costs.\">data forensic\u200c company examine data<\/a> \u2062from election machines\u200c and computers at Coffee\u200d County for\u200c evidence of vote manipulation. Together with Ms. Powell, she\u2019s\u2062 now facing charges of illegally breaching the election equipment.<\/div>\n<h2>Legal Defense Fund<\/h2>\n<p>About a month ago, the Trump team set up the Patriot \u2062Legal Defense Fund that should cover legal expenses for current and former employees and aides of the former president. \u200bIt\u2019s not clear how much money the\u2064 fund has raised so far. Its website offers merchandise emblazoned with President \u200cTrump\u2019s\u2063 mug shot\u2014a hot commodity after his \u2063booking at \u200dthe Atlanta jail on Aug. 24, \u200daccording to some vendors.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not\u2064 clear if the fund will cover the expense.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>sought financial support from donors to cover legal expenses in the extensive Georgia case against ex-President Donald Trump, he has personally tapped into his campaign funds to secure legal representation for this and other ongoing court battles.
