Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) failed to disclose in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watchdog-files-ethics-complaint-against-warnock-alleging-undisclosed-church-income\/\" title=\"Watchdog files ethics complaint against Warnock over undisclosed church income.\">required \u2064timely manner 5<\/a>,000 in deferred compensation he received for \u200bwork completed prior\u2064 to his \u200c2020 \u2063Senate election.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p>&#8220;Sen. Warnock\u2019s apparent\u200d violation of federal \u2062law and Senate ethics \u2062rules is disturbing and extremely \u200ctroubling. As he reported, either Sen. Warnock and his\u2062 church\u200c had a deferred compensation agreement\u2062 that \u200bboth have conspicuously failed to report the existence of for years, or\u2064 he\u2064 received outside income of\u200b over four\u200d times the legal limit,&#8221; said Kendra Arnold, Executive Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.factdc.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust<\/a> (FACT), in a statement made\u200c available\u200d to The\u2064 Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;In either case, this would \u2062be a major breach of Senate ethics laws \u200bthat must\u200c immediately \u200cbe\u2064 investigated by the Senate Select Committee on Ethics. Chris Coons (D-Del.) and James Lankford (R-Okla.).\u2063 The ethics panel does not comment publicly on newly filed\u200d complaints, and it may not\u2064 make\u2064 public any \u200dfinal disposition.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Sen. (Madalina Vasiliu\/The Epoch Times)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At the center of the FACT complaint is a payment \u2062Mr. \u2064Warnock received from Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta for work he had \u200ddone \u200bas\u2062 senior pastor of the congregation prior to being elected to the\u2064 Senate \u2062in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/as-republican-julia-letlow-is-sworn-in-the-democrats-margin-in-the-house-shrinks-to-just-2-votes\/\" title=\"As Republican Julia Letlow Is Sworn In, The Democrats\u2019 Margin In The House Shrinks To Just 2 Votes\">special runoff election<\/a> in 2021. \u2063His election, along with that of another Georgia Democrat,\u2062 Sen. Jon Ossoff, in the same special runoff election, was key to Democrats retaking the Senate \u2063majority for the \u200dfirst time since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;According to Senator Warnock\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/justice-thomas-releases-9-page-financial-disclosure-report-following-attacks-by-the-left\/\" title=\"Justice Thomas issues 9-page financial disclosure report amidst left-wing criticism.\">2022 financial disclosure report<\/a>, he received $154,895 from Ebenezer Baptist Church, which included $125,000 described \u2064as \u200b&#8217;deferred compensation for \u2063services before\u200b January 20, 2021.&#8217; Curiously, this was the first \u2064time Sen. Warnock reported the $125,000 that was claimed to be earned\u2062 before he was sworn\u2063 in as a U.S. Senator. Similarly, Ebenezer Baptist\u2063 Church \u200breportedly also failed to report\u200d the liability of 2 $125,000 in its prior financial statements for calendar years 2020 and 2021,&#8221; the FACT complaint alleged.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer \u2063(D-N.Y.) (Chip Somodevilla\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to FACT, Mr. Warnock appears to have violated one or more federal laws and Senate\u200d ethics rules, covering \u2064timely disclosure and\u200d restrictions on the total\u200b amount of\u200d compensation a senator can receive over and above\u200d the current $179,000 \u200cannual Senate salary.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Federal law\u200b and \u200dSenate ethics rules require Senate candidates and\u2064 senators to disclose their financial information to the public. As part of\u200b these disclosures, each Senator must <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watchdog-files-ethics-complaint-against-sen-warnock-alleging-undisclosed-church-income\/\" title=\"Watchdog files ethics complaint against Sen. Warnock over undisclosed church income.\">disclose &#8216;deferred compensation&#8217; plans<\/a>, and the &#8216;parties, \u200bdates, and terms\u200c of the \u200bagreement\u2062 must be reported,'&#8221; the complaint said. Mr. \u2064Warnock\u200b has \u200bnot \u2064previously \u200bincluded the Ebenezer deferred \u200ccompensation\u2062 on public disclosures either prior \u200bto \u200dwinning election or since.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the income limit, the \u2064complaint explained that the\u200c Senate Ethics manual \u200bprovides that \u201cfederal law and Sen<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Warnock was unaware of the requirement to disclose the compensation, which raises concerns about his understanding of ethics rules, or he intentionally failed to disclose it, which raises concerns about his integrity.
