Among the victims was a six-year-old boy who was shot in\u200c the thigh\u200d inside \u2064his own home. Another tragic incident \u200binvolved\u2063 a\u2063 teen boy who was\u2063 shot in the head on the city&#8217;s South Side. And it&#8217;s \u200dgetting worse.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Other Cities Affected<\/h3>\n<p>Atlanta witnessed 15 shootings, resulting \u2062in six deaths. Kansas City saw four \u2064people killed in unsolved cases. Baltimore is investigating seven shootings that claimed the lives of \u200cat \u2063least two individuals. In New York City, \u2063three people \u200dwere \u200bshot\u200c near a parade\u2062 route, \u200cwith one fatality. Philadelphia had two shootings, including\u200c one involving an 80-year-old who is in critical condition. Memphis experienced \u200bthree shootings, leaving four \u2062people, including a 17-year-old, in critical condition.<\/p>\n<h3>A\u200c Disturbing Trend<\/h3>\n<p>Unfortunately, this surge in violence \u200bduring summer holidays is not uncommon. Labor Day, the Fourth of July, \u200cand Memorial Day often bring an increase in gun violence, particularly in major cities.
