It took about three hours to get from the gate to the normal road. But. for many city dwellers who seldom drive on dirt road, getting stuck can seem overwhelming, she \u200bsaid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s easier for me,\u201d she said. \u201cFor me, situations like that are not so crazy.\u200b I was a little bit disappointed that this generation \u2063 [of] millennials doesn\u2019t know\u2064 simple things,\u201d Ms. Martynemko said.<\/p>\n<p>She attended\u200b her first Burning Man festival in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns when public events were banned. This year was\u200d her second experience.<\/p>\n<p>Deni Haapameri, of Finland, rode his bicycle\u2064 out of \u2064the event on Monday evening. \u200cHe told The Epoch Times he would have liked\u2062 to see the finale but \u2062was\u2063 exhausted and headed to a comfortable hotel \u2064room in Reno \u200binstead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there was a bit of sadness due\u200b to some hindrances to the art installations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Deni Haapaneri from \u200cFinland stands \u2063with his bicycle outside of the\u200b Burning Man festival in Blackrock, Nev., on Sept. 4, 2023. (John Fredricks\/The Epoch Times)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The mud was \u201csurprisingly hard to \u2064walk in,\u201d and \u200briding his bike in it was \u201cimpossible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>But, despite the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-cancels-major-foreign-policy-speech-due-to-two-inches-of-snow\/\" title=\"Biden Cancels \u2018Major\u2019 Foreign-Policy Speech Due to Two Inches of Snow\">inclement weather<\/a>, Mr. Haapameri said the rainstorms were \u201cbeautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople were really \u2064tired, and I think it forced\u200c people to rest \u2064more out there,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve never experienced anything like this in \u200bthis \u2063type of environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe heard about several stories the media was sharing; one of them being that there\u2063 was some\u200d kind of Ebola virus going on out here,\u201d he said with\u2063 a\u200c smirk \u2063on his\u2062 face.<\/p>\n<p>According to the event\u2019s organizers, the \u200breport of a viral outbreak is unfounded\u2064 and untrue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2063 also heard about\u2064 dust storms and even a hurricane, but this\u2062 did not happen from what I \u2063experienced,\u201d \u200cMr. Haapameri said.<\/p>\n<p>The Burning Man\u2019s 2023 theme, \u201cAnimalia,\u201d celebrates \u201cthe animal world and our place in it,\u201d according to Stuart Mangrum, the Director of Burning Man Project\u2019s Philosophical \u200cCenter.<\/p>\n<p>It \u200dexplores \u201canimals real and imagined, mythic and remembered\u201d and \u201cthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/burning-man-attendees-trapped-after-flooding-turns-land-into-mud-pit-1-death-investigation\/\" title=\"Burning Man attendees trapped in mud pit, 1 death probe.\">curious mental constructs<\/a> that allow us to believe that imagined animals \u2064are \u2062real, real animals\u2063 are imagined, and that somehow, \u200ddespite all evidence \u200dto the contrary, mankind is somehow not part of the animal kingdom.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">Tickets for the annual event range from $575 to $2,750, according to the\u2062 event\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/tickets.burningman.org\/?_gl=1%2A155lnwc%2A_ga%2AOTU5NjAyNzIuMTY5MzkzNjkyMQ..%2A_ga_411YJ8ZFDE%2AMTY5MzkzNjkyMS4xLjEuMTY5MzkzNzIyMS4wLjAuMA..\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>.<\/div>\n<p>One man, Leon Reece, 32, died at the\u200d event \u200dSept. 1. The\u2062 Pershing County Sheriff\u2019s Office stated the cause of\u2063 death is under investigation, but pending toxicology reports.<\/p>\n<p>Jess \u201cB,\u201d who\u2064 didn\u2019t\u200b want to reveal her last name, 33,\u200c of Chicago, attended\u200b the event with her partner, but was \u2064at the airport in Reno by \u2062Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe mud was pretty rough \u200cthe first\u2062 night [Friday],\u201d \u200dshe said, adding it was \u200beasiest to walk barefoot through the muck. \u201cIt was supposed to rain \u200bfor a \u200dcouple of hours, \u200bbut it rained for eight hours,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure style=\"width:600px\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Footprints lead away from \u200ba \u200dtruck stuck\u2064 in the mud outside\u200d of the Burning Man festival in Black Rock, Nev., on Sep. 4,\u2064 2023.
