As told by an IRS\u00a0\u00a0and\u00a0, investigators were then instructed to stand by and ultimately \u2064never got permission to\u200b proceed.<\/p>\n<p>Comer <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/DHS.pdf\">sent<\/a> \u200bthe <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/USSS.pdf\">subpoenas<\/a>, which have deadlines listed for later \u2062this month, with <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/2023-9-5-JC-to-USSS-re-Biden.pdf\">accompanying<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/2023-9-5-JC-to-DHS-re-Biden.pdf\">letters<\/a> asserting that the DHS \u200dOffice of Legislative Affairs sought to block Secret Service officials from responding to information requests from multiple House committees about the\u200b alleged tip-off. The\u200b Secret Service is part of DHS.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Department of Justice initiated the Biden family \u2064coverup and now DHS under the leadership of Secretary Mayorkas is complicit in\u2064 it. Investigators were never able to interview Hunter Biden\u200c during the criminal investigation because Secret Service headquarters and the Biden transition team were tipped off about \u200cthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bombshell-letter-fbi-warned-hunter-biden-investigator-to-decline-to-respond-to-house-oversight-committee-question\/\" title=\"FBI advised Hunter Biden investigator to not answer House Oversight Committee query.\">planned\u200d interview<\/a>,&#8221; Comer said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is just one of\u2064 many examples of the misconduct and politicization during the Department of Justice&#8217;s investigation,&#8221; the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/2021-tokyo-games-moving-forward-as-scheduled\/\" title=\"2021 Tokyo Games moving forward as scheduled\">chairman added<\/a>. &#8220;The Oversight \u2062Committee \u2013 along with\u200b the Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees \u2014 is \u2062seeking \u200cinterviews with key witnesses, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/anchorage-mayor-eases-mask-mandate-for-vaccinated-people-in-certain-settings\/\" title=\"Anchorage Mayor Eases Mask Mandate For Vaccinated People In Certain Settings\">including employees<\/a> at the Secret Service. The Department of Homeland Security is\u2062 obstructing our investigation by muzzling the Secret Service from providing a response to Congress.\u200d The American people deserve\u2064 transparency,\u200d not \u200dobstruction.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A Secret Service spokesperson said DHS would respond\u2063 for both entities. The Daily Wire reached out to DHS seeking comment and will update this\u200c story if a response is given.<\/p>\n<p>Although Department of Justice leaders have pushed back against claims of politicization and Democrats have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/crossfire-erupts-on-airwaves-after-hunter-biden-special-counsel-appointment\">pushed back<\/a> on GOP efforts to \u2064conduct their \u200down\u200b investigations, \u200cComer insisted \u200din his statement that House Republicans \u2062&#8221;will hold the Biden Administration accountable for \u200brunning interference for the Biden\u2062 family&#8217;s corruption and criminal \u2064activity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The subpoena announcement comes nearly a month after Attorney General Merrick Garland <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/speech\/attorney-general-merrick-b-garland-delivers-statement\">granted<\/a> Delaware&#8217;s U.S. Attorney David Weiss special counsel status after the collapse of a plea agreement with Hunter Biden involving tax evasion and gun charges.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the Hunter Biden matter, \u200bRepublicans have criticized Mayorkas over his handling of U.S. border security, leading to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/house-sends-biden-impeachment-articles-to-committees\">investigations<\/a> and\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/texas-house-republican-files-impeachment-articles-against-dhs-secretary-mayorkas\">articles of impeachment<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has issued subpoenas to DHS and Secret Service officials, including DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, regarding the alleged obstruction of a congressional inquiry into Hunter Biden&#8217;s criminal investigation.
