The two \u2064said they also submitted a request for a federal investigation into the violation of Murdaugh\u2019s civil rights. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe allegations in\u200d the\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/murdaugh-lawyers-file-motion-in-bid-for-new-trial\/\" title=\"Murdaugh lawyers seek new trial.\">petition \u2062filed today speak<\/a> for themselves,\u201d said Harpootlian. \u201cBut we believe they explain a number of\u200d peculiarities\u2064 in the six week trial.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The motion alleges that Rebecca Hill, who is the Colleton County \u2062Clerk of Court, tampered with the jury by telling \u200cthem \u201cnot\u200d to\u2063 be fooled by\u201d Murdaugh\u2019s testimony and to \u200cnot be misled by evidence \u2063presented in his defense.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyers further allege Hill pressured the\u2063 jury into \u2064reaching a quick guilty verdict. They claim \u2064she even misrepresented critical information \u200bto the\u200b judge in an effort to \u200dremove a juror she believed to be favorable to the defense.<\/p>\n<p>Murdaugh\u2019s attorneys also stated that they \u2063received information suggesting that they should take a look inside what occurred in the jury room.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cOne \u2063of the things we heard was once \u2063the jury went\u200d out even\u2064 though there were six smokers and they were given smoke breaks during the\u200c entire trial, \u200conce the jury\u2063 went out they were told no more smoke breaks,\u201d\u2064 Harpootlian said. \u201cPeople that want nicotine you\u2019re going to have to\u200d get a verdict first.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Murdaugh\u2019s\u2064 other lawyer, Jim Griffin, added they\u2019re \u201cvery confided the information is accurate.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The once prominent South Carolina lawyer was\u2064 given a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republican-congressman-admits-to-asking-trump-for-two-pardons\/\" title=\"Republican Congressman Admits To Asking Trump For Two Pardons\">double life sentence<\/a> for the murder of his wife, Maggie, and their son, Paul, in 2021.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cAlex Murdaugh maintained and still maintains \u200chis innocence in \u2063the murder of Maggie and Paul and believes the\u200b truth will only prevail,\u201d Griffin\u2063 added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The \u200cattorney general has 10 days to respond to the motion.<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
