Two \u200cof these claims are still pending as they were\u200b filed just last month.<\/p>\n<h3>Lawmakers Return to Capitol Hill with a Ticking\u2064 Clock and \u2064a Hefty To-Do List<\/h3>\n<p>James&#8217;s office\u200b emphasized that the\u2062 court has the \u2062power to impose sanctions on\u200c any party or lawyer involved in a civil action who engages in &#8220;frivolous conduct.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The\u2064 crux of Trump&#8217;s legal argument, which his\u200d team attempted \u2063to use, is \u2062that the district attorney&#8217;s office lacks the standing or \u2062capacity to bring\u2064 claims alleging that Trump and his colleagues &#8220;grossly&#8221; inflated his net worth by billions of\u2063 dollars.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, \u200cJames accused \u200bthe Trump Organization of deceiving lenders\u200b and others through false \u2063or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-backed-solar-company-lied-about-effectiveness-of-solar-modules-lawsuit-says\/\" title=\"Biden-Backed Solar Company Lied About Effectiveness of Solar Modules, Lawsuit Says\">misleading financial statements<\/a>.\u2062 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/letitia-james-asks-for-legal-sanctions-against-trump-in-250-million-lawsuit\/\" title=\"Letitia James seeks legal penalties against Trump in 0M lawsuit.\">alleged fraudulent activities date back<\/a> to 2011, and James filed the lawsuit last year.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Since\u2063 at least 2011, Defendants and others working on their behalf at the Trump \u2064Organization have falsely inflated by billions of dollars the value of many of the assets listed on\u200c Donald J.\u200c Trump\u2019s annual statement\u2062 of financial condition (&#8216;SFC&#8217;), and hence his \u200doverall net worth for each of these years,&#8221; a filing last week stated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mr. Trump, and in \u200csome years the trustees of his revocable trust, submitted these grossly inflated SFCs to \u2062banks and insurers to secure and maintain loans\u200c and insurance on\u2063 more favorable terms, reaping hundreds of \u2063millions of dollars in ill-gotten savings and profits,&#8221; it added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>James is seeking $250 million in damages for the \u2063overall case.
