The first, which was introduced earlier this year, would allow \u200djudges to <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/california\/california-senate-ab-957\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">remove custody<\/a> from &#8220;non-affirming&#8221; parents. The second would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-dems-could-remove-visitation-rights-for-non-affirming-parents\/\" title=\"California Democrats may eliminate visitation rights for parents who do not affirm their child's identity.\">force custody judges deciding visitation rights<\/a> to consider &#8220;a parent&#8217;s affirmation of the\u200c child&#8217;s gender identity or gender expression,&#8221; according to language <a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202320240SB599\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">added to the bill<\/a> last week that will take effect if the first proposal passes.<strong><br \/> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Neither bill defines what &#8220;affirmation&#8221; means, leaving it to judges to decide if it includes irreversible puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and genital surgeries. Nor does it specify what age a child should \u200bbe before his or her preferred identity should be unquestioningly &#8220;affirmed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Both\u200d bills are up for final approval by the state senate and assembly by Sept. 14. It&#8217;s unclear what the final result will be, but Democrats have so far easily advanced the idea of changing family law to promote &#8220;gender affirmation&#8221; in \u200bthe face of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judicial-watch-mass-school-district-settles-civil-rights-lawsuit-with-football-coach-fired-for-objecting-to-critical-race-theory-in-daughters-class\/\" title=\"Judicial Watch: Mass. School District Settles Civil Rights Lawsuit with Football Coach Fired for Objecting to Critical Race Theory in Daughter\u2019s Class\">widespread public opposition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The revamped parental visitation bill puts &#8220;non-affirming&#8221; parents in the same league \u2062as abusers\u2014and suggests that \u2063California Democrats aren\u2019t retreating from their attack\u2063 on parents who may not agree with transitioning their minor children\u2063 to a different sex or identity. The original\u2063 proposal was intended only to prevent the \u200dharm or murder of children by a parent already flagged\u200b as a potential danger, introduced as a response to the\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/immigration-arrests-california-united-states-sacramento-e4c29013f094cb768844f2ba34ed88ad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2022 murder of three girls<\/a> \u2063 by their father during a supervised visit in California, according to \u2063its legislative analysis.<\/p>\n<p>A representative \u200cfor the\u2064 bill&#8217;s author, Sen. Anna Caballero (D.), did not return \u2063a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>When the initial proposal was introduced to order custody judges to favor &#8220;affirming&#8221; parents during divorce or separation disputes, \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/american-academy-of-pediatrics-now-suggesting-parental-rights-advocates-want-to-roll-back-child-abuse-protections\/\" title=\"American Academy of Pediatrics Now Suggesting Parental Rights Advocates Want to Roll Back Child Abuse Protections\">parental rights advocates<\/a> and attorneys argued that such a \u2064provision could make parents\u200d vulnerable to claims of abuse if they don\u2019t go along with their child\u2019s chosen identity.\u200c California parents are <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/02\/26\/dad-lost-custody-after-questioning-sons-transgender-identity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">already losing custody<\/a> \u2063 of their gender-confused children.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the unfortunate event that parents are\u2064 negotiating visitation rights for their \u200cchildren \u200cin a custody dispute, it makes sense for a judge to consider if the children are in legitimate danger,&#8221; said Lance Christensen, vice president of education\u2062 policy and government affairs for\u2063 the California Policy Center. \u2062&#8221;However, classifying a parent who does not \u2064affirm a child&#8217;s gender dysphoria should not be \u200cin the same category as an \u2063abuser.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At a hearing for that measure in June, bill co-author Sen.
