When \u200dthe\u2064 facts \u2063presented so clearly indicate a \u200dviolation \u2062has occurred, it is incumbent on the Senate Ethics \u200bCommittee \u2064to investigate, inform the public to maintain citizen \u2064confidence,\u2064 and hold the senator responsible for\u2063 violations should they be found.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Warnock, who has been a pastor at \u200bAtlanta&#8217;s \u200cEbenezer Baptist Church since 2005, listed a salary of $155,000 on his 2022\u200d financial disclosure. However, \u2062he claimed that $125,000 \u2062of \u200dthat amount was &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dem-senator-fabricated-loophole-to-earn-125k-over-limit-his-nonprofit-under-investigation-report\/\" title=\"Democrat Senator 'Created' Loophole for 5K Over Limit, 'Nonprofit' Under Investigation - Report\">deferred \u2063compensation<\/a> for services\u200d before Jan. 20, 2021,&#8221; allowing him to argue\u2064 that he did\u200c not \u2063exceed\u2064 the $30,000 outside income limit for senators. The watchdog\u2064 group\u2063 points out that the $125,000 was not listed\u2062 as \u2064an asset on Warnock&#8217;s previous financial \u200bdisclosures \u200bor the \u2062church&#8217;s records for \u20622020 \u2063and 2021.<\/p>\n<p>FACT also highlights that federal rules\u2064 require senators \u2064to report all &#8220;deferred compensation&#8221; plans, including the &#8220;parties, dates, and terms of \u200cthe agreement.&#8221; \u200dThe Ethics in Government Act imposes consequences\u2063 for\u2062 breaking the law,\u2063 such as fines \u2063of up to $50,000 or\u200c even imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>Warnock&#8217;s 2022 disclosure did \u200dnot mention approval from the Senate Select Committee on Ethics for the \u200d&#8221;deferred compensation&#8221; arrangement. In 2021, the committee had granted Warnock\u2064 permission to \u2063bypass the earned\u200b income \u2064limit \u2063after he disclosed\u200c earning $120,000 from Ebenezer, with $89,000 of that sum allegedly coming from \u200ba nontaxable \u200b&#8221;parsonage allowance&#8221; used to \u2063pay \u2062for his $1 million\u2064 home in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. \u200bWarnock&#8217;s office and the\u200c Senate Ethics Committee have not responded to requests for comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
