This has, understandably, created interest, concern, \u2064and\u2062 speculation,&#8221; the website states. &#8220;Now that we&#8217;re no longer limited by confidentiality, we are eager to begin a\u2064 conversation about\u200d the future \u2064of Solano County a conversation with all of\u2063 you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The website goes on to state that Solano County, like much of California, &#8220;faces many challenges, but also possesses countless opportunities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Over the past \u2062few years, California \u200bForever has completed surveys and interviews with about 2,000 residents of Solano County\u2014located \u2062between Sacramento, San Francisco, and Napa Valley, with a population of about 450,000\u2014and \u200dtheir voices, according \u2063to the \u200ccompany, &#8220;were clear.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Residents want more opportunities to buy homes in safe, walkable communities. Good paying local jobs, so they can\u200c both live and work in the county,&#8221; the website states. &#8220;Better funding to improve schools, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/facebook-board-upholds-trump-ban-demands-platform-clarify-standards\/\" title=\"Facebook Board Upholds Trump Ban, Demands Platform Clarify Standards\">promote public safety<\/a>, and reduce homelessness, as well as resources to invest in infrastructure for transportation, water, and wildfire protection.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That is why, according to California Forever, it has raised capital from a string of investors including Mr. Andreessen and California\u2063 investment firm Andreessen Horowitz, and Ms. Jobs, as well as Patrick and John Collison, Chris\u2062 Dixon, John Doerr, Nat Friedman, Daniel Gross, Reid Hoffman, and Michael Moritz, to build the \u200cnew community.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:0;margin-right:0;max-width:1200px\">\n<figure style=\"width:640px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto\" class=\"alignnone\"><figcaption>Laurene Powell Jobs (R),\u2062 the widow of Steve Jobs, with Warren\u200b Buffett\u2019s secretary, Debbie Bosanek, prior to the start of U.S. President Barack\u200c Obama&#8217;s State of the Union speech in Washington on Jan. \u206324, 2012. (Win McNamee\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>&#8216;Walkable Neighborhoods,&#8217; Solar Farms<\/h2>\n<p>Those investors share the firm&#8217;s &#8220;long-term vision and belief that California\u2019s best days are still ahead,&#8221; and are &#8220;committed\u200d to Solano and this project for the \u2064long term.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The community will include homes, shopping,\u2062 dining and schools, all within &#8220;walkable neighborhoods,&#8221; as well as solar farms \u2064and &#8220;open space,&#8221; including both &#8220;agriculture and habitat conservation,&#8221; according to the website.<\/p>\n<p>It will also attract new employers, create well<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/united-states-and-mexico-pledge-billions-for-infrastructure-modernization-effort-at-the-border\/\" title=\"United States and Mexico Pledge Billions for \u2018Infrastructure Modernization Effort\u2019 at the Border\">-paying local jobs<\/a>, lead in &#8220;environment stewardship,&#8221; and \u200bfuel a &#8220;growing tax base \u2063to serve the county at large.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the project would &#8220;protect and support&#8221; Travis Air Force Base, including by respecting Solano County\u2019s official Travis Reserve Area, according to the company.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200b website comes as lawmakers\u2063 have raised concerns\u2064 over Flannery Associates LLC.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.), whose district includes Solano\u200d County, said he met with two representatives from the company in late August to\u2062 ask questions about their plans but that it was clear following the meeting that they &#8220;don\u2019t have a plan; they have a vision.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The secrecy under which they operated caused\u2063 consternation \u2064and concern from residents, local elected \u200cofficials, and federal agencies,\u2064 and\u2063 while they explained their rationale, I do not believe the secrecy was necessary,&#8221; the lawmaker\u200d said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Solano County is a tight-knit community, and\u2064 it is going to be a long road for Flannery to \u200drestore trust and move forward with\u2063 their proposed vision.
