In our case, they \u200dwould potentially be on the hook for\u200c destroying half the value of the company, so roughly $22 billion.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Monday, \u2063Mr. Musk disclosed that advertisers\u200d had\u200b informed X of alleged pressure exerted \u2063by\u2062 the ADL.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Based on what we\u2019ve heard from advertisers, \u200bADL seems to be responsible for most of \u200dour \u2064revenue\u2064 loss,&#8221; he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1698834460131651883?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>. &#8220;Giving them maximum benefit of the doubt,\u2064 I don\u2019t see any scenario where they\u2019re responsible for less than \u200d10% of\u2063 the\u200b value \u2064destruction, so ~$4 billion. Document \u200cdiscovery of\u2064 all communications between the ADL \u200dand\u200d advertisers will tell the full story.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Musk, who\u200c is the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, \u200caccused the ADL\u2064 of pressuring advertisers\u200c and \u200ccausing \u2062a significant decline in the platform&#8217;s \u2062advertising revenue in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our U.S. advertising revenue is \u2062still\u200b down 60%, primarily\u200d due to pressure on advertisers by @ADL \u200d(that\u2019s what advertisers tell \u2062us), so they\u2062 almost succeeded\u200c in\u2064 killing X\/Twitter!&#8221; Musk wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The ADL is a prominent organization with the\u2062 mission of\u2064 &#8220;preventing the\u200d defamation\u200c of \u200cthe \u2062Jewish people \u200dand \u2062advocating for justice and fair treatment for\u2062 all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Musk vehemently defended free speech\u2062 on social media while strongly condemning antisemitism.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To be super clear,\u2064 I\u2019m pro free speech, but against anti-Semitism of any \u2063kind,&#8221; he wrote. &#8220;Since the acquisition, The @ADL has\u2064 been\u2063 trying to kill this \u2063platform by falsely accusing \u2062it &#038; me of being anti-Semitic,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>In further comments, Mr. Musk explained that \u2062advertisers tend to\u2064 &#8220;avoid controversy,&#8221; and all it takes for the ADL \u200bto impact\u200b their \u2062U.S. and European ad revenue is to make &#8220;unfounded accusations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They have much less power in Asia, so our ad revenue there is\u2063 still strong,&#8221; he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Musk elaborated on \u200dthe situation, stating that the &#8220;controversy&#8221; causes \u200dadvertisers to &#8220;pause&#8221; their campaigns until they receive \u200capproval from the ADL.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;[B]ut that pause is permanent until ADL \u2062gives the green \u200dlight, which they will not do without\u200b us agreeing to secretly suspend or shadowban any account they don\u2019t \u2064like,&#8221;\u2064 he wrote.
