It is about 15 miles (25 km) from the nearest town and\u2064 110 miles (177 km) north of Reno.\u200c   \u2063   <\/p>\n<p>For days, up to 70,000 people were ordered to stay \u200dput and conserve food and water as officials closed the roads, requiring vehicles to \u200cstay put.<\/p>\n<p>One person died \u200dat\u200c the \u200cevent, officials \u200bsaid on Sunday, providing\u2063 few details. An \u2062investigation was under way.<\/p>\n<p>Event\u2062 organizers urged drivers\u2062 to take it slow on\u200b Monday and consider delaying their \u200bdeparture until Tuesday\u2064 to reduce \u200ctraffic. Even before \u200bthe road opened, some attendees\u2064 told Reuters \u2064a \u2062steady stream of vehicles\u2064 had left since pre-dawn, many struggling through the \u2062slop.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c way out is a 5-mile \u2063(8-km) dirt road to the nearest highway.\u200b Photos shared online showed hefty recreational vehicles sunk up to the tire rims in mud, with some \u200cusing boards \u200cunder the wheels to help get traction.<\/p>\n<p>The temporary airport serving the festival was reopened on Monday, according to the \u2063X account Burning Man Traffic, with all outgoing flights destined\u200b for Reno, Nevada. Flights to Burbank, near Los Angeles, and Oakland\u2062 were set to resume on Tuesday. Black Rock \u2062City Municipal Airport \u200bappears in \u2064the desert for 13 days each year around festival \u200dtime, using\u200d two runways on the dry lake \u2063bed, and\u2064 then disappears, according to its \u2062website.    <\/p>\n<p>National Weather Service forecasters said on\u200c Monday the rain was over, after \u200breporting the area received from three-quarters of an inch to 1.5 \u2064inches (1.9 to \u200c3.8 cm)\u2063 of rain since late Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Some festival-goers ignored\u2063 the order \u2062to stay put and attempted to walk or drive out to the highway.<\/p>\n<p>Others\u200c partied on in the rain.<\/p>\n<p>Videos posted to\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/burning-man-road-reopens-allowing-festival-goers-to-escape-muddy-mess\/\" title=\"Burning Man road reopens, freeing festival-goers from muddy chaos.\">social media showed \u2062costumed revelers \u2013 including<\/a> a few children \u2013 sliding through \u2063the sticky mess, most of\u2062 them covered from head to toe in \u2062wet earth. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen\u2062 you get pushed to extremes, that\u2019s\u2064 when the most fun \u2062happens,\u201d said Brian Fraoli, 45, a\u2064 veteran \u201cburner\u201d who works \u200din finance in New York.<\/p>\n<p>Fraoli said he had tried to drag\u200b his luggage through the mud and escape, but gave\u2064 up\u200b and decided\u200b to relax and enjoy the experience. \u201cOverall it was an amazing week and next \u200dtime \u200cwe will be\u200b more prepared,\u201d \u200dhe said.<\/p>\n<p>Every year Burning Man \u2063brings tens of\u200b thousands \u200cof people to the Nevada desert to dance, make art and enjoy being\u2062 part of \u200da\u200b self-sufficient, temporary community of like-minded spirits.\u2063 Originating in 1986 as a \u2062small gathering on a San \u2062Francisco beach,\u200d the weeklong \u200bfestival \u200dis now attended by celebrities and social\u200d media \u200binfluencers.
