This marks the third\u2062 time \u2062in less than three months\u2064 that a judge has rejected\u200b such requests.<\/p>\n<p>Thurston County Superior \u200dCourt Judge Allyson\u2064 Zipp recently dismissed a request for a preliminary injunction to block the \u200cimplementation of HB 1240. This\u200b bill prohibits\u2062 the manufacture, importation, distribution, and sale of over 50 types \u2064of guns, \u2064including AK-47 and AR-15 style rifles, which are classified as assault weapons.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit challenging the ban was filed by firearms \u200dtraining firm Guardian Arms against Democrat Gov. Another\u200b request to block the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-gun-policies-concern-second-amendment-advocates\/\" title=\"Biden gun policies concern Second Amendment advocates\">assault weapons ban<\/a> was also \u200brejected by U.S. District Court \u2064Judge Robert Bryan on June \u20626 \u2063in \u200ca \u200cseparate lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>The ban on assault weapons was proposed by State Attorney General\u200d Bob Ferguson \u2064in 2017 following\u2063 a \u200cmass shooting in \u200cMukilteo, Washington, where the shooter used an AR-15 style rifle.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2023 legislative session, both Mr. Ferguson and Mr. Inslee called for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/washington-state-bans-ar-15s-semiautomatic-rifles-5221302\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ban on the sale<\/a> of assault weapons. The bill was signed into law by Mr. Inslee in April.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese assault weapons have no purpose other than mass murder. Their sole \u200dintent\u200c is \u2062to kill humans as quickly and efficiently as possible,\u201d stated Governor Inslee.<\/p>\n<p>Despite legal challenges,\u200b the \u2063recent decision by Judge Zipp\u2063 has been \u2062hailed by \u200bState Attorney \u200cGeneral Bob Ferguson,\u2062 who said, \u201cMy legal team remains \u2064undefeated against the \u200bgun lobby\u200b in \u2062court. This common-sense\u2063 gun \u2064reform\u2062 will save lives by restricting access to the preferred weapon of mass shooters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Second Amendment Foundation, \u2064however, has \u200bcriticized the ban, with\u2062 founder Alan M. Gottlieb calling it \u201cabsurd\u201d and accusing \u2063the state of prioritizing politics over constitutional rights.<\/p>\n<h2>Democrats Continue to Push for Gun Ban<\/h2>\n<p>The\u2062 United States previously had\u200b a ban on assault weapons from 1994 to 2004. President Joe Biden claimed in \u200dAugust 2022 that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/despite-democrats-fearmongering-on-firearms-a-majority-of-americans-own-guns-or-want-to-own-guns\/\" title=\"Most Americans own or desire firearms, despite Democrats' fear tactics.\">mass shootings increased<\/a> after the ban expired.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBack\u200b in 1994, I took on the\u2064 NRA and passed the\u2063 assault weapons ban. For \u206310 years, mass shootings were down. &#8230; \u2062But in 2004, Republicans let that ban expire, and what happened? Mass shootings tripled,\u201d President Biden \u200bstated.<\/p>\n<p>However, a study commissioned by the National Institute\u2064 of\u2064 Justice in 2004 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ojp.gov\/pdffiles1\/nij\/grants\/204431.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) concluded that \u201cwe cannot clearly credit the ban with \u2064any of the nation\u2019s \u2064recent \u200cdrop in gun violence.\u200b And,\u200d indeed, there has been no discernible reduction in the lethality and injuriousness\u2062 of gun violence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In February, then-U.S.\u2064 Rep. David \u2062Cicilline (D-R.I.) introduced the Assault Weapons Ban of 2023\u2063 in the House,\u200d but the \u200dbill did not advance.<\/p>\n<p>In March, President Biden \u2064renewed his \u200cpush for an\u2063 assault weapon ban following\u2064 a school shooting in Nashville, \u2064Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI call on\u200c Congress again \u2064to pass my assault \u200dweapon ban. It\u2019s about time we begin to make some progress,\u201d \u2063he urged in a March 28 post on X, formerly known as \u2063Twitter.<\/p>\n<h2>Expansive Gun Control Measures Proposed<\/h2>\n<p>The Biden administration is also proposing a rule that\u2062 would classify any \u2063American who sells guns as a\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/white-house-proposes-radical-new-rule-for-americans-selling-firearms-5484529\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">firearms dealer<\/a>, thereby <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-dismisses-3rd-attempt-to-block-washington-state-assault-weapons-ban\/\" title=\"Judge dismisses third attempt to block Washington State's 'assault weapons' ban.\">tightening\u2062 gun control measures<\/a> in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, individuals can\u200c sell firearms \u2064for \u200cprofit without being registered firearms dealers.
