Prosecutor Fani Willis, the district attorney for Fulton County, Georgia, \u2063said that these actions constituted a &#8220;criminal\u200c racketeering \u200benterprise&#8221; and conspiracy to defraud\u2064 citizens of their vote.<\/p>\n<p>The 98-page indictment names the electors, President Trump, the attorneys who advised the president\u200b and electors in 2020, and several others who spoke to election\u2063 witnesses during the challenge of the vote. Mr. Shafer has\u2064 argued, in his notice to remove \u2062his case to federal court, that he had called the Dec. 14, 2020, meeting to cast the votes\u2064 specifically to adhere to the legal\u200d requirements demanded of an alternate slate of electors. He argued\u200c that he sought counsel from the president&#8217;s legal team, who then \u200cexplained the legal requirements to the alternate electors. The transcript, which was in \u200bMr. Willis&#8217;s possession,\u2064 shows much \u2063the \u200bsame.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re conducting\u2064 this because the contest of\u200b the election in Georgia is ongoing. And so we \u2063continue to contest the election\u200d of the electors in Georgia,&#8221; Mr. Smith said after Mr. Shafer introduced him at the meeting.<\/p>\n<div class=\"shortcode\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>President\u200d Trump\u200d had filed a lawsuit against Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Dec. 4, 2020, \u2062alleging that tens of thousands of\u2062 illegal votes were \u200dcast. A\u200b recount took place after \u200cthat, which resulted \u200din the 11,779-vote lead that \u2062Joe Biden held in \u200bthe state, which would give him Georgia&#8217;s 16 electoral votes when the electors were\u2063 to cast them on \u200dDec. 14, \u200b2020.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lazyload-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload-placeholder\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>President Trump&#8217;s legal challenge was still \u200dpending in court\u2064 as the date drew near. In\u200c order for the challenge to continue past Dec. 14,\u200b 2020, two slates\u200c of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-alternate-electors-sought-to-emulate-jfk-nixon-challenge-in-1960-transcript-shows\/\" title=\"Transcript reveals Georgia's pursuit of alternate electors, mirroring JFK-Nixon contest in 1960.\">electoral ballots needed<\/a>\u2062 to\u200c be cast.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The President has filed a contest to the certified returns. That contest\u2063 is pending,&#8221; Mr. \u2063Shafer said at the meeting. &#8220;It&#8217;s not\u200b been decided or even heard \u2064by any judge with the authority to hear it. And so in order to preserve his rights, it&#8217;s\u200c important \u200bthat the \u2062Republican nominees for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-fani-willis-possesses-evidence-exonerating-georgias-alternate-electors\/\" title=\"Fani Willis holds proof clearing Georgia's alternate electors.\">presidential elector meet<\/a>\u2062 here today and cast their votes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Emulating \u20641960 Procedures<\/h2>\n<p>In \u200b1960, Democrat John F. Kennedy won\u2063 Hawaii by a narrow margin of just\u200b 115 votes. Both Democrat and Republican officials sought a recount, which then \u2062gave Mr. \u2063Nixon, a Republican, a 141-count lead.<\/p>\n<p>The result was challenged and pending in court \u200bas the deadline to cast the electoral votes drew near. As a result, on Dec. 19, 1960, the deadline, both the official Republican slate of \u2062electors and\u200b the contingent Democrat slate of electors cast their \u2062votes.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 6, 1961,\u200b then-Vice President Nixon \u200cpresented both slates of electoral votes.
