However, in a concerning turn of events, the board later removed this option, leaving parents without the ability to \u200dprotect their children from exposure to ideas\u2063 that \u2063conflict with \u200ctheir \u200dreligious beliefs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-292315a04459714b9cfaa6695a92c25c fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-292315a04459714b9cfaa6695a92c25c\"><\/div>\n<p>In response, three families representing various faith traditions \u200bfiled a lawsuit, arguing that\u2062 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/elite-san-francisco-school-nixes-merit-based-admission\/\" title=\"Elite San Francisco School Nixes Merit-Based Admission\">school board&#8217;<\/a>s &#8220;no-opt-out&#8221;\u200d policy violates\u200d their and their children&#8217;s First Amendment rights to religious freedom and free speech, as well as their \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-gives-them-the-right-to-do-that-cornyn-grills-jackson-on-unenumerated-rights-judicial-policy-making\/\" title=\"\u2018What Gives Them The Right To Do That?\u2019 Cornyn Grills Jackson On Unenumerated Rights, \u2018Judicial Policy-Making\u2019\">substantive due process rights<\/a> under the 14th Amendment. She \u2063dismissed the parents&#8217; concerns about their rights to direct their children&#8217;s religious upbringing, stating that exposure to religiously offensive ideas does not impose a government-imposed burden on their religious exercise.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Helen Alvar\u00e9 of the George Mason University Scalia\u2063 School of Law \u2064disagrees with Boardman&#8217;s opinion, arguing that teaching on &#8220;familial relations&#8221; is an integral part of transmitting religious faith and that any interference with it \u200dinfringes upon the liberty and \u200cfree exercise \u2063rights of parents.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately,\u2062 Judge Boardman&#8217;s ruling \u2063reflects the concerning trend of Biden&#8217;s judicial appointees.
