The grant will also provide for construction of\u2062 75 affordable housing units.<\/p>\n<p>Plans for San Diego include demolition, excavation, and \u2062grading to accommodate parking\u200b and\u2063 housing \u2062development while improving \u2063concrete paving and traffic signals.<\/p>\n<p>Other \u2063improvements \u2062in selected \u200cregions include\u200b bike pathways, bus shelters, landscaping, green spaces, and land acquisition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[This] \u2062funding will speed up and \u200breduce\u200c the \u2062cost of constructing\u2064 housing by \u2063paying for water and sewer hookups,\u2063 sidewalk\u2063 improvements,\u2062 parks,\u200c and green space, and other improvements that are the connective tissue for housing,\u201d Lourdes Castro \u2063Ramirez, secretary for the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency, said in the \u2063same\u200b press \u200drelease. \u201cThese investments will allow \u200bmore people to live \u200din homes that are closer to work, schools, grocery stores and other amenities in a walkable \u200ccommunity that is\u200c also near transit.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>California Gov.
