They&#8217;ll\u200d Be Made to Pay<\/h2>\n<p>Whatever\u200c it is that you \u2062may think \u200dof Texans, it\u2019s hard to deny that \u2064they\u2019re not \u200da pragmatic bunch (the Alamo notwithstanding).<\/p>\n<p>The Lone\u200d Star State\u200c has long been \u200ba shining beacon of how healthy\u200c a state can be, even in President \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/key-inflation-metric-moves-wrong-way-new-govt-report-combines-income-stagnation-fuel-debt-spiral\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe\u2063 Biden\u2019s\u2064 America<\/a>, with sensible Republican leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/texas-gov-greg-abbott-tells-foreigner-complaining-many-american-flags-go-back-australia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greg Abbott<\/a> \u200d has long\u2062 been one of \u200dthe most effective governors in the country, and one of his latest moves is just further proof of that.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>House Bill \u200b393<\/h3>\n<p>officially went into effect on Friday,\u2064 and it is, essentially,\u200b a distillation\u200c of the \u201cplay\u2064 stupid games,\u200c win stupid\u2064 prizes\u201d adage.<\/p>\n<p>The bill, which\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nancy-pelosis-omnibus-bill-abortion-slush-fund\/\" title=\"Nancy Pelosi\u2019s Omnibus Bill Abortion Slush Fund\">enjoyed bipartisan support<\/a>, is a rather \u200bstraightforward\u200d one: Convicted drunk drivers will be required to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-put-baby-mama-on-payroll-of-his-consulting-firm-contradicting-his-claims\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Put Baby-Mama On Payroll Of His Consulting Firm, Contradicting His Claims\">pay child support<\/a> if they kill a parent or guardian.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, \u200cthe bill focuses on any victims of\u2064 intoxication manslaughter.<\/p>\n<p>Texas <a href=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/Docs\/PE\/htm\/PE.49.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">penal code<\/a> \u2062defines\u2062 \u201cintoxicated\u201d as \u201cnot\u2062 having the normal use of mental or physical \u200dfaculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol, \u2064a controlled substance, a drug, a dangerous drug, a combination of two or more of those substances, or any other substance into the body\u201d or,\u2064 more\u200d simply, \u201chaving an alcohol\u2062 concentration of 0.08 or more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As far as what \u201cintoxication manslaughter\u201d entails, it\u2063 is when a person \u2063\u201coperates a motor\u2062 vehicle in a public\u200c place,\u2063 operates an aircraft, a watercraft, or an amusement ride, or assembles \u200ba mobile amusement\u2063 ride\u201d\u200b and \u201cis intoxicated and by reason of that \u200dintoxication causes the death\u200b of another\u200b by accident or\u2062 mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If found guilty \u2062of the above \u2063and \u2062the\u200d victim in question is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/parenting-youtuber-business-partner-arrest-young-boy-escapes-home-runs-neighbors-help\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">parent<\/a> or guardian,\u2062 the perpetrator \u2064will be responsible for \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-here-are-the-paintings-hunter-biden-gave-his-daughter-in-lieu-of-child-support-payments\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden gave his daughter exclusive paintings instead of child support payments.\">child\u200b support payments<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Good.<\/p>\n<p>Look, this writer isn\u2019t\u200d naive enough \u200bto think that\u200c this is some perfect solution or\u200c salve to adult idiocy.<\/p>\n<p>But, at the very least,\u2062 HB393 puts the onus of self-responsibility back \u200don the adult \u2014 and not forcing\u2062 the suddenly \u200corphaned\u2064 child to \u2064bear the brunt of\u200d it.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, want to partake in some\u2063 alcoholic libations and then\u2062 operate some\u2064 heavy \u200bmachinery?<\/p>\n<p>Nothing\u2019s stopping you, but you had better be prepared to end up like a divorcee and pony up \u200dsome child support.<\/p>\n<p>Frankly, the\u200c grand \u200dlesson\u2063 of HB393 is something that can and \u200bshould \u200bbe extrapolated \u200cand utilized by all 50 states.<\/p>\n<p>It\u200d doesn\u2019t have to be as\u200c granular, but\u2062 there\u2064 really is something to attaching an air of \u200bpersonal responsibility to\u2064 these legal\u2064 ramifications.<\/p>\n<p>(There\u2019s certainly\u200c a joke to be made that if there\u2019s one thing Gen\u2062 Z abhors, it\u2019s self-responsibility, so it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pro-trump-wyoming-sen-leader-wants-to-stay-neutral-through-cheney-hageman-primary\/\" title=\"Pro-Trump Wyoming Sen. Leader Wants To \u2018Stay Neutral\u2019 Through Cheney, Hageman Primary\">makes total sense<\/a> to do this.)<\/p>\n<p>Drinking and\u200b driving? If\u200c convicted, you better be ready to\u2062 pay for child \u2062support.<\/p>\n<p>Looting and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/target-takes-extreme-measures-desperate-bid-stop-shoplifting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shoplifting<\/a>? If\u2063 convicted, you must work\u200d at the\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-texas-law-drops-the-hammer-on-drunk-drivers-who-kill-parents-theyll-be-made-to-pay\/\" title=\"New Texas Law Holds Drunk Drivers Accountable for Killing Parents\">store providing free labor<\/a> until the stolen good are paid back tenfold.<\/p>\n<p>Sexual assault?
