In an interview\u2064 on This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Ramaswamy emphasized the need to distinguish between &#8220;bad behavior and illegal\u200b behavior.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would have handled that situation very differently \u200bthan Trump did,&#8221; Ramaswamy stated. He\u200d further added, &#8220;Frankly, \u200dif I were the U.S. president, I would have never let it \u2062get \u200bto that place.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>These remarks from Ramaswamy come shortly \u2062after he also stated \u200bhis intention to handle\u2062 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/seattle-school-district-claims-out-of-control-homeless-encampment-on-school-property-is-a-teachable-moment\/\" title=\"Seattle School District Claims \u2018Out Of Control\u2019 Homeless Encampment On School Property Is A \u2018Teachable\u2019 Moment\">situation differently<\/a>\u2063 than \u2064former Vice President Mike Pence. He highlighted the importance of implementing reforms \u200cin Congress to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ramaswamy-claims-he-wouldve-handled-jan-6-differently-than-trump\/\" title=\"Ramaswamy asserts he'd handle Jan. 6 differently from Trump.\">ensure secure elections<\/a>. During an interview on Meet the Press with Chuck Todd, Ramaswamy advocated for\u200d a new federal law that mandates &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/vivek-ramaswamy-claims-mike-pence-missed-an-opportunity-for-heroism\/\" title=\"Vivek Ramaswamy says Pence missed chance to be a hero.\">single-day voting<\/a> on Election Day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ramaswamy pointed out several factors that he believes contributed to the frustrations\u200c leading up to the Capitol riot, including\u2063 COVID mandates and the controversy surrounding Hunter Biden&#8217;s laptop.\u200d He also mentioned the perceived disparity in the application of the law for individuals associated with the Black Lives Matter movement or ANTIFA.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary\u200b to Trump&#8217;s actions, Ramaswamy firmly stated\u200b that \u200che would not have nominated a &#8220;phony slate of electors&#8221; to support his\u200d claims of winning the 2020 election against President Joe Biden. However, while denouncing Trump&#8217;s judgments on \u2062Jan. \u20626, Ramaswamy\u200d disagreed\u2062 with the notion that the former president explicitly encouraged his supporters \u200cto storm the Capitol. He asserted that he\u200c carefully read the transcript and \u200cbelieves \u200dTrump called for a &#8220;peaceful protest.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Is that what I would have done that \u200cday under those circumstances? No, but I do\u200b think\u2062 that that&#8217;s different from a \u200bcrime,&#8221; Ramaswamy clarified.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaswamy \u200cexpressed his disagreement with many of Trump&#8217;s actions on that day, \u200dbut he cautioned against\u2063 prosecuting \u2064him for it. He argued that such a move would set\u200c a dangerous precedent of infringing \u200don the \u2062First Amendment rights and eliminating political opponents during an election.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their differences, Ramaswamy reiterated his support for Trump if he secures\u2064 the Republican nomination in 2024, \u2063even if he faces a criminal conviction.
