Kevin McCarthy recently visited the areas of Lahaina in Maui to assess the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/china-committed-serious-human-rights-violations-in-uyghur-concentration-camps-un-report\/\" title=\"China Committed \u2018Serious Human Rights Violations\u2019 In Uyghur Concentration Camps: UN Report\">devastating damage caused<\/a> by multiple wildfires. Accompanied by Reps. Jill Tokuda, David\u200d Joyce, Jared Moskowitz, and Russ Fulcher, McCarthy toured\u200c the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hawaii-fire-emergency-management-leaders-at-crisis-conference-when-wildfire-erupted\/\" title=\"Emergency management leaders were attending a crisis conference in Hawaii when a wildfire suddenly broke out.\">affected\u2064 areas<\/a> by car. After their tour, the \u200bgroup of representatives held a press conference \u200bto discuss their observations and the\u200b necessary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/putin-signs-law-targeting-journalists-cnn-bloomberg-bbc-stop-operations-in-russia\/\" title=\"Putin Signs Law Targeting Journalists: CNN, Bloomberg, BBC Stop Operations In Russia\">steps moving forward<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Witnessing the Devastation Firsthand<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;I will tell\u200d you this, I truly appreciate, on behalf of \u200call of\u2063 my constituency, the\u200b fact \u2064that now we can truly call you \u200dpart of our Ohana, \u200bour family,&#8221; expressed Tokuda,\u200c acknowledging the \u200dcongressional delegation. &#8220;Because\u2062 we know that after what you \u2064have seen, what \u2062you have\u200d smelt, \u200dwhat you have heard today from our community, being right there in \u2064Lahaina \u2064amongst our\u200c people&#8230; we know you are part of our Ohana that is going to\u2064 fight like \u2063hell\u200c every single day to \u2062make \u2062sure\u200d that Maui knows \u2064we \u200cwill \u200dnot leave you behind.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>During the press conference, each congressman took turns sharing their firsthand accounts of the devastation. They described melted glass \u200cand \u2063metals, and even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kevin-mccarthy-moved-by-maui-situation-following-visit\/\" title=\"Kevin McCarthy 'touched' by Maui situation after visit.\">entire apartment buildings reduced<\/a>\u200b to only their elevator shafts standing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don\u2019t\u200b think anybody can go there and not be moved. \u200bI don\u2019t think \u200danybody can\u200d go there and not have\u2063 emotions\u2063 overtake them,&#8221; McCarthy expressed about\u200c the impact of witnessing \u200dthe destruction in \u200bLahaina. &#8220;Walking away, I \u2064think the \u2062responsibilities as policymakers: honor \u200cthose who lost their lives, understand\u2064 the\u200c heritage of the\u2062 location in which it took place. Respect it, but rebuild it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Assurance of Federal \u2062Aid<\/h3>\n<p>During the press conference, a reporter inquired about Federal \u200dEmergency Management Agency (FEMA) funding. McCarthy assured the reporter that FEMA had no concerns about their ability to provide assistance.\u200d Additionally, \u200dChairman Joyce, from the Appropriations Committee, pledged to\u2062 oversee the allocation of more aid to the state.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Wildfire is not \u2062a strange thing in my state,&#8221; Fulcher commented, referring to Idaho, which currently has \u2062the most fires \u2062of any \u2064state. &#8220;But most of the time, not \u200calways, but \u2064most of the time, it\u2019s in remote areas, it&#8217;s in with large timber stand areas as opposed to in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/defense-sec-concedes-possibility-that-u-s-troops-could-face-off-with-russians\/\" title=\"Defense Sec. Concedes Possibility That U.S. Troops Could Face Off With Russians\">dense urban area<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the death toll in Maui stands at 115, with 40 victims identified and their\u200d families notified.
