A \u2062summary \u200bof\u200d their removal\u200b filings\u200d argues they operated under \u2062an official role tying themselves back \u200cto the federal government under the &#8220;color&#8221; of their official\u2063 duties.<\/p>\n<p>Meadows&#8217;s\u2063 bid to remove his case to federal court means that\u200d he and four others may have the transparency of \u2062their \u200bproceedings subdued, and\u2064 a\u200c potentially more diverse \u2063jury pool,\u2064 compared to the solidly\u2062 Democratic\u2062 Fulton County. \u2062Meadows took the witness \u200cstand Monday during a \u2062full-day hearing before U.S. District Court Judge\u200b Steve Jones, who is \u2062also handling removal motions for the other defendants.<\/p>\n<p>Because of tight restrictions on access to electronics in Jones&#8217;s court on Monday, \u200breporters were only permitted to take notes,\u200c and even \u2064a courtroom\u200b transcript\u200d from the\u2064 day won&#8217;t be published until Sept. 21 because \u200dparties have yet to &#8220;Request for Redaction,&#8221; according to an Aug. 31 filing \u200cin the \u200cDistrict \u200cCourt for the Northern District of Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>Jones said he would try to act &#8220;as fast as possible&#8221; when considering Meadows&#8217;s motion, \u2063adding that his decision \u2063over the former\u2064 chief of staff&#8217;s request could set precedent for future cases, according to Lawfare.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who is facing 13\u2062 counts \u200cand is at the center of the indictment alleging he took part in subverting the 2020 election results in\u200c the Peach State,\u2064 has not\u200d filed a motion to remove his case to federal court, though \u200csources familiar\u200c with the matter told the Wall Street Journal he is \u200dlikely to follow.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If\u2063 Meadows\u2062 fails, Trump can\u200b still try to remove his case \u200cto \u200dfederal court,&#8221; Holloway said. &#8220;Most certainly the Trump defense lawyers\u200c are watching the Meadows case very closely.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The judge&#8217;s forthcoming decision over Meadows&#8217;s removal may\u2062 signal whether \u2064the public\u200b will get \u200cto \u200cwatch \u200dthe former chief of \u2063staff live on television or \u200dby an online livestream in state court, though Holloway said\u200d the ruling\u200b is \u2063subject to appeal \u2063by either losing party, delaying\u2064 certainty over a\u200c televised trial.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s a complicated legal \u2063question, particularly as Meadows is concerned. And a ruling in Meadows\u2019s favor leads to other \u2063complicated issues such as whether to also remove co-defendants and even whether\u200c to \u2064remove \u2062only certain charges while possibly leaving other charges in the state court\u2062 system,&#8221; Holloway added.<\/p>\n<p>Public visibility of \u200dTrump&#8217;s two federal criminal cases,\u2063 one alleging he retained\u2064 classified\u200d materials and the\u200d other \u200balleging he\u200d schemed \u200cto subvert the 2020 election, have been\u200b limited to in-person access, transcripts, \u2064and\u2063 courtroom \u200csketches of the former president in federal\u200c courts located in Florida\u2062 and the District of Columbia, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In his New York case of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-a-televised-trump-rico-trial-could-still-be-wishful-thinking\/\" title=\"Is a televised Trump RICO trial still wishful thinking?\">alleged falsified business records<\/a>, Judge Juan Merchan made the decision to allow five\u200d still photographers\u2062 to capture images of\u200c Trump flanked by his attorneys inside the courtroom before \u200bhis arraignment.\u200b A 48-minute \u2064deposition of Trump\u2064 used\u200b in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alex-jones-ordered-to-pay-nearly-1-billion-to-sandy-hook-families\/\" title=\"Alex Jones Ordered to Pay Nearly  Billion to Sandy Hook Families\">civil defamation trial<\/a> against E. Jean Carroll was also released earlier this year and displayed during that\u200b trial\u200c in March.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&#8217;s own \u2062counsel in the Washington, D.C., case has welcomed\u2064 the introduction of\u2063 cameras in\u200b that venue, according to \u200ba statement from attorney John Lauro shortly after \u2063he \u200bwas hired in July. Nearly\u2062 three dozen\u2063 House Democrats have \u2062asked the Judicial Conference, the governing body of federal courts, to \u200ballow\u200d cameras \u200cin the courtroom in\u200c that\u200c case, though \u200dany decision would likely come\u200c from \u2062Chief\u200c Justice John Roberts.<\/p>\n<p>Whether the optics of an eventual live trial helps or hurts Trump is anyone&#8217;s\u2063 guess, said Michael O&#8217;Neill of the Landmark\u200d Legal \u200dFoundation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is entirely possible that \u2064Mr. Trump thrives\u200b in the media circus \u200dthat would surround\u200b a\u2063 livestreamed criminal trial and\u2063 further solidify\u2062 his \u2064standing among Republican \u200dcandidates for president,&#8221; O&#8217;Neill\u200b said, \u2064adding that \u200cit \u2063may \u200c&#8221;hurt&#8221;\u2064 him in the general election should he maintain his \u2062wide \u200cpolling advantage and take the GOP primary crown.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/trumps-georgia-racketeering-trial-televised\">CLICK\u2064 HERE TO \u2062READ MORE\u2064 FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trump, who is facing 13 \u2064felonies for his \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-moves-to-sever-georgia-rico-case-from-co-defendants-to-avoid-speedy-trial\/\" title=\"Trump separates Georgia RICO case from co-defendants to delay trial.\">alleged illegal attempts<\/a> to overturn \u2063the 2020 election in \u200cGeorgia, \u2062entered his not guilty \u2062plea on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>He\u200c and \u200bthe 18 other\u2063 defendants had arraignments scheduled for \u2064Sept. 6, but \u200bper a standing order filed \u2062this month by McAfee, defendants are able\u2063 to \u200bwaive their arraignments and enter not guilty pleas in lieu of physically\u2062 appearing at \u200cthe \u2063court.
