The state can also impose additional requirements and limitations on the \u200bpermit.<\/p>\n<h2>Pandemic\u200d Blamed for Backlog<\/h2>\n<p>The lawsuit\u200d claims that the backlog in processing applications began in 2020-2021 when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/boston-police-commissioner-facing-lawsuits-over-firearms-license-application-delays\/\" title=\"Boston Police Commissioner Faces Lawsuits for Delayed Firearms License Applications.\">police department halted\u200c operations due<\/a> to the\u200b COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Alan Gottlieb, founder and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/flashback-former-ag-barr-initiated-spying-program-on-americans-back-in-1992\/\" title=\"FLASHBACK: Former AG Barr Initiated Spying Program on Americans Back in 1992\">executive vice president<\/a> \u2064of the \u2064Second Amendment Foundation, revealed that \u200cthey had previously sued over the backlog and reached\u2063 a settlement through mediation. However, the Licensing Unit\u200d has returned to delaying applications, prompting the current lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2021, we sued over\u200b the delay and the case was ultimately settled at mediation.
