Using aircraft and satellites, CSAA \u2063is \u200ccapturing photos of homes to evaluate potential hazards.<\/p>\n<p>CJ Sveen of Oakley recently received a notice from CSAA, stating that his homeowner insurance would\u2063 be terminated due to debris and hazards in his yard. As a longtime customer of CSAA, Sveen was shocked by\u2063 the\u2064 non-renewal notice.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I kind\u2062 of was offended. You know; how dare you judge me for my stuff?&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>When Sveen contacted CSAA to dispute the notice, he was \u200dinformed that a drone had been used\u200c for the inspection. They evaluate these sources to \u200bdetermine the risk associated with each property.<\/p>\n<p>Despite \u2062CSAA&#8217;s claims, Sveen was not given the opportunity to view the aerial photos or \u2062address the perceived\u200c risks in\u2064 his yard. \u2063Frustrated, he sought out a better\u2063 policy offered by a\u200b company catering to\u200c military members, veterans, and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly,\u200d Marilyn Smith and her husband received a non-renewal notice from AAA, \u2062stating that a drained\u200b swimming pool in their backyard posed a risk. However, the Smiths no longer used the pool and had repurposed it as \u2064a hothouse\u2064 for growing lettuce and tomatoes.<\/p>\n<p>Janet Ruiz, director of strategic communications at the Insurance Information \u2062Institute, emphasized the benefits of aerial imagery for property inspections. \u2064She stated that it provides reliable and cost-efficient data, making it safer and less time-consuming for\u2062 inspectors\u2064 or claim adjusters.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Aerial imagery raises the standard for \u200breliable, cost-efficient property data.\u2064 It is safer, and less time consuming for inspectors or claim adjusters inspecting roofs, or inspecting multiple\u200b properties after a loss \u2064due to wildfire, wind storms,\u200c etc.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>CSAA maintains that customers have the option to provide photos \u200cor\u2063 other documentation to dispute a non-renewal notice. However, \u2063some individuals, like George \u2063Nadeau, felt that the drone surveillance was unjustified.<\/p>\n<p>Nadeau received a non-renewal notice from AAA, claiming that his roof had \u2062exceeded its \u2063useful life. He provided invoices and photos \u200dto prove that he had recently\u2062 installed a \u200bnew \u2063roof and upgraded it.
