(Photo by STEFANI REYNOLDS\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>OAN\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/tag\/roy-francis\/\" target=\"_blank\">Roy Francis<\/a><br \/>1:28 PM \u2013 Saturday, September 2, 2023<\/h2>\n<p>President Joe Biden delivered a \u200dspeech on Friday, remarking on the\u200d number of jobs that \u200bhave been\u2064 added to the job market.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The\u2062 president said that the United States is in one of\u200b the \u201cstrongest job creating periods in our history,\u201d after \u2064the recently\u2064 released Bureau of\u2062 Labor Statistics \u2064 <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/empsit.nr0.htm\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/empsit.nr0.htm\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a> said that\u2064 187,000 jobs were added in the \u2062month of\u2063 August, an increase \u2062from \u2064the\u200c 157,000 in \u200bJuly.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWe came to office determined to build\u200d the economy in \u2063a different way, from the middle\u2064 out and\u200b the bottom up, not the top down,\u201d Biden said. \u201cWhile I\u2019m proud of the historic \u2064legislation \u2063my administration has passed and the policies we\u2019ve enacted,\u200b the \u2062real heroes of this\u200d story \u200dare the American \u200dpeople, average Americans. They\u2019re\u200b the \u200cones getting up every day, putting their heads down, going out that door and going to work.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However,\u200d while the amount of jobs that have been\u200b added \u200dhas increased, the unemployment\u200d rate rose as well in the month of August to \u20643.8%, \u2063bringing the \u200damount of \u2064people \u2064without employment to 6.4 million.<\/p>\n<p>The current\u200b rate of unemployment is \u2064the highest that the country has seen since February 2022,\u2063 according to the Labor\u2064 Department.<\/p>\n<p>The Bureau of Labor Statistics also\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/cpi.nr0.htm\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/cpi.nr0.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">showed<\/a> \u2063that rent, transportation, food and \u200bgas prices have all \u200dbeen on\u200b the rise as well.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, \u2064according to a recent LendingClub\u200c report,\u200b 61% of adults say\u2062 that \u200bthey are living paycheck to paycheck. Almost three-quarters of consumers that are earning less\u2062 than $50,000 annually, and 65%\u2063 of those\u2062 who earn between $50,000 and $100,000, have also been\u200b living paycheck to\u200c paycheck.  <\/p>\n<p>While touting\u2063 \u201cBidenomics,\u201d Biden slammed President Donald Trump for leaving\u2064 office with \u201cfewer jobs than when he entered.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cIt\u200c wasn\u2019t that long ago that America was\u200d losing jobs,\u2019 \u2063he said. \u2018In fact, my predecessor \u200cwas one of only\u2063 two\u2063 presidents in history, who \u200dentered his\u2063 presidency and\u200c left with fewer jobs than when he \u2064entered.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, the previous administration had seen massive job growth \u2062until the economic shutdown across the country due to COVID-19 had \u2063forced people home,\u200d leading to a stall in \u2064economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the industries that saw\u200b the \u200cmost job growths in August were health\u200c care, leisure and hospitality, social assistance and construction.<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed! \u2063Receive breaking news blasts \u2062directly to your inbox for free.
