Ron DeSantis since then,\u200c rising \u200b11 \u200cpoints and bringing the difference between the two to 46 points.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At \u206413% support, DeSantis is barely ahead of the rest of the \u2064field, none of whom has broken out\u2063 of\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/andrew-yang-has-commanding-lead-in-nyc-mayoral-race-poll-shows\/\" title=\"Andrew Yang Has Commanding Lead In NYC Mayoral Race, Poll Shows\">single-digit support<\/a>,&#8221; WSJ wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The Florida governor&#8217;s \u200dapproval dropped the most, going from 35 percent to 13 percent of likely \u200cprimary voters declaring \u200chim their first choice between\u200d the April and \u200crecent poll.<\/p>\n<p>Support for all other candidates had also taken a dip, with likely voters \u2063switching their top pick to President Trump. Entrepreneur and \u200dpolitical outsider Vivek Ramaswamy saw 16 \u200dpercent of the vote in April, and now has only 5 percent. Former\u2062 U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley&#8217;s numbers dropped from 12 to 8 percent. Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) saw his support drop from 7 to 2 percent, and former Vice \u200dPresident\u2064 Mike Pence from 4 to 2 percent, while the \u2063others saw no change at 1 to 3 percent. A smaller group of voters were undecided this time, from 12 to 4 percent in the \u200bmost recent poll.<\/p>\n<p>WSJ also asked voters about the multiple indictments against President Trump, and found that most Republican voters viewed it in his favor: <strong>78 percent said the president&#8217;s actions after 2020 were\u200c &#8220;legitimate efforts to ensure an\u2062 accurate vote,&#8221;<\/strong> \u200bwhile 16 percent said the attempt to block Congress was illegal.\u2062 Also, 16 percent said they were less likely to vote for President Trump because of the indictments, while 48 percent said they were more likely to vote for him \u2063because of \u200dthe indictments.<\/p>\n<p>When \u2062polling President \u2064Trump against President Joe Biden, \u200cthe WSJ poll found\u2063 them evenly tied, with 8 percent undecided. When\u2064 third-party candidates were added to the\u2063 hypothetical race, 40 percent chose President Trump and 39 percent chose President Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates&#8217; reactions to the indictments have also shifted their support rankings, WSJ\u2063 found.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Pence&#8217;s remarks and stance on the 2020 elections have separated him from Republican voters who support President Trump. In the WSJ poll in April, \u206454 percent of respondents viewed him favorably, whereas now 63 percent have an unfavorable view of him. Former New Jersey Gov. \u200bChris Christie had\u200d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/after-booking-mugshot-trump-top-choice-for-most-republican-voters-poll\/\" title=\"Poll: Trump Remains Top Choice for Majority of Republican Voters After Booking and Mugshot.\">highest unfavorable opinion share<\/a>, more \u2062than 70 percent.<\/p>\n<p>A\u2064 Morning Consult <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.morningconsult.com\/analysis\/trump-electability-post-gop-debate-poll?utm_source=social_media&#038;utm_medium=organic_social&#038;utm_campaign=gop_debate&#038;utm_content=organic_post\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a> published Aug. 29 \u2063showed similar voter sentiment.<\/p>\n<p>Republican primary voters found President Trump even more electable after the mugshot event, and \u200dhis skipping the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ian-sams-former-kamala-aide-and-grillary-clinton-apron-model-lands-new-gig-as-bidens-covid-spox\/\" title=\"Ian Sams, Former Kamala Aide and \u2018Grillary Clinton\u2019 Apron Model, Lands New Gig as Biden\u2019s COVID Spox\">primary debate<\/a>, according to the poll.<\/p>\n<p>A majority, 62 percent, of the Republican primary \u2063voters surveyed said President Trump had the best chance of beating President Biden \u200din the 2024 race, up almost 10 points from when\u200c the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/not-just-bud-light-anheuser-buschs-other-beer-brands-see-sales-crash\/\" title=\"Anheuser-Busch's non-Bud Light beers suffer major sales decline.\">consulting firm ran<\/a> a similar survey just a week before.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, support for Mr. DeSantis\u2062 also dropped, with just 13 percent of voters saying he is most electable, matching\u2062 a\u2062 low from when Morning Consult \u200bbegan polling in \u200bApril. \u2063Mr. Ramaswamy, who had been climbing in the polls as of \u200dlate, also\u200c saw a dip, \u2062from 10 to 6 percent, after the viral mugshot, as more voters turned to\u2062 President\u2062 Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Previous indictments likewise increased President Trump&#8217;s numbers in the polls and fundraising, with supporters explaining that they saw the candidate&#8217;s actions \u200cas a stand for justice.<\/p>\n<p>Newt Gingrich recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/newt-gingrich-trump-candidate-trump-leader\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explained<\/a> on Fox News that President Trump was more than a candidate, but the &#8220;leader of a movement,&#8221; symbolizing a stand\u2064 against an &#8220;establishment that is totally corrupt, destroying anything that gets in its way.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Here are my\u2063 choices; I&#8217;m \u2064going to side with a totally corrupt \u200badministration, or I&#8217;m \u200cgoing to side with a guy who has the guts to stand there and take the beating and\u200c keep coming,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I mean, you know, Trump could easily have retired, and if he&#8217;d retired, none of these charges would ever have occurred.\u2064 And instead, he said, you\u200d know, \u2063the country&#8217;s worth going through this. \u200cAnd I think that&#8217;s given him\u200d support in places that normally wouldn&#8217;t\u200b have supported [him].&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>&#8216;Never Surrender&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>Ahead\u2063 of his surrender in Fulton County, Georgia, where \u200che\u200d was charged with racketeering over \u2063contesting the state&#8217;s 2020 election results, President Trump had written on social media that he would &#8220;proudly be arrested&#8221; for fighting for election integrity.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump had \u2062made it known days before that he woul<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former president and potential GOP candidate for 2024, Donald Trump, has gained popularity despite facing four indictments and a widely circulated mugshot.
