Our systems \u2064mistakenly charged both the old rate and the\u2064 new \u200crate at the time \u2062of \u200dsale.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Walmart urged affected customers\u200c to review their\u200d receipts and visit their \u2062stores to rectify the\u200d issue.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re asking customers\u200c who used cash \u200bwhile \u200dshopping with us today \u200cto check their receipts,\u201d \u2064Walmart said. \u201cIf \u2062they \u2063see they\u2019ve been charged two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/check-your-receipt-glitch-causes-customers-to-double-pay-taxes-on-groceries\/\" title=\"Glitch doubles grocery taxes on receipts.\">separate \u2062sales tax amounts<\/a>, bring that receipt \u200bto \u2064their Walmart store or Sam\u2019s Club and speak with a member of\u200c management to get a refund for the\u200d higher of\u2064 the two taxes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCustomers who used \u200bcredit cards and other forms \u200bof payment will receive a notification their refunds were\u200b automatically applied,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>WHNT, a local news\u2064 station,\u2062 confirmed the error by\u2063 sending a news crew to Walmart and experiencing\u200c the\u2064 same\u2064 issue with double taxation.<\/p>\n<p>In June, Alabama Governor\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alabama-governor-kay-ivey-announces-undergoing-lung-cancer-treatment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kay Ivey<\/a> signed a bill to reduce the state tax on grocery purchases. The \u200ctax may be further reduced \u200cif the state&#8217;s \u2062Education Trust Fund grows by \u200bat\u200d least 3.5 percent over the prior year,\u2063 potentially lowering the sales tax on groceries\u2063 to \u20632 percent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs \u2062Alabamians and Americans alike are grappling with tighter times, I am hopeful that this decision by the Legislature \u2064to slightly reduce the sales tax \u2062on \u2063certain food items will be truly felt\u200d by\u200d Alabama families,\u201d Ivey said in a \u200cstatement.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tennessee-passes-bill-making-drunk-drivers-pay-child-support-if-they-kill-a-parent-of-a-minor\/\" title=\"Tennessee Passes Bill Making Drunk Drivers Pay Child Support If They Kill A Parent Of A Minor\">legislation passed unanimously<\/a>, indicating bipartisan support for reducing or eliminating the \u2064grocery tax.<\/p>\n<p>State Rep. Penni \u2064McClammy and \u200cState Sen.
