But Buffett was actually an astute, ambitious, aggressive businessman.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A statement posted \u2062to\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimmybuffett.com\/\">Buffett\u2019s official website<\/a> and social media pages announced his\u2062 passing on Friday at age 76. \u2064The statement did not \u2064say \u2062where Buffett died or \u200bgive a cause. He rescheduled concerts in May and \u200cacknowledged he had been \u200chospitalized \u200bfor an unspecified illness.<\/p>\n<p>Buffett built an empire based largely on Caribbean-flavored \u200bpop that celebrated the \u2062Florida \u2062Keys, sunshine and nightlife. His \u200bname became synonymous with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/most-people-dont-know-about-jimmy-buffetts-massive-success-outside-of-music\/\" title=\"Jimmy Buffett's Remarkable Triumphs Beyond Music Remain Unknown to Many.\">laid-back\u200c subtropical party \u200cvibe<\/a>, and \u200dhis fans were known as \u200dParrotheads.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>But behind\u2063 the laid-back \u2063exterior, Buffett was an admitted workaholic. He expanded into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/first-willy-wonka-now-james-bond-language-police-going-ian-flemings-classic-novels-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">novels<\/a>, \u200cnightclubs \u2063and many other ventures. \u2062At one time \u2064his\u2062 estimated annual income\u2064 was \u2063more than $40 million, and his \u200brevenue sources extended far\u2064 beyond a musician\u2019s typical business model of album sales, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ellens-exit-and-why-conservatives-should-pause-before-rejoicing\/\" title=\"Ellen\u2019s Exit and Why Conservatives Should Pause Before Rejoicing\">concert tickets<\/a> and\u2063 souvenir T-shirts.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He landed \u2064at\u200c No. 13 in Forbes\u2019 \u2064America\u2019s Richest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/charles-barkley-calls-celebrities-promoting-woke-racism-disappointed-men\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celebrities<\/a> in 2016 with a net worth \u2062of $550 million.<\/p>\n<p>The title of Buffett\u2019s most\u200d popular song\u200b showed up on restaurants, clothing, booze \u200band casinos.\u2063 He became involved \u2064in such\u2062 products as Landshark Lager,\u2063 the Margaritaville and Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant chains, boat\u2063 shoes, salsa, hummus, tortillas, dips, tequila and blenders. The Margaritaville \u2064cafe on the Las Vegas strip\u200b was said to be the top grossing restaurant in the nation.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Buffett was chairman of Margaritaville\u2062 Holdings based in Palm Beach, Florida.\u2063 He had a restaurant\u2064 and a \u200dcasino in\u200c Vegas, a casino \u2064in \u200bMississippi and a hotel in Pensacola Beach, Florida, \u200bbut the exact scope of his empire \u2064was a secret. \u2062Margaritaville Holdings LLC didn\u2019t disclose\u200c its finances, and he usually <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/amid-national-backlash-female-athletes-hesitant-to-weigh-in-on-trans-competitor-lia-thomas\/\" title=\"Amid National Backlash, Female Athletes Hesitant To Weigh In On Trans Competitor Lia Thomas\">declined interview requests<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Along with hit songs, Buffett wrote best-selling novels. I started running\u2064 the band\u2062 years ago because \u200dnobody else could,\u2062 and I turned out to be good at this stuff. There\u2019s never been any grand plan to this thing. I\u2019m making it up as I go \u200balong. \u2026 Just trying \u200dto \u2064work the system while maintaining my \u201960s anarchic soul.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Buffett could be more intense than his \u2062songs and stage persona suggested. He was injured in\u200c 2011 when he fell \u200cface-first off \u200dthe stage while\u200d performing in\u200c Australia and struck his\u2063 head, knocking him unconscious. He was released from the hospital the next day.<\/p>\n<p>An \u200cavid Miami Heat\u200d basketball fan,\u2064 Buffett caused friction at a 2001 \u2063game when he cursed\u2064 at\u200c referee Joe Forte\u2063 from his\u200c courtside \u2062seat. Some \u2064would follow\u2064 Buffet\u2019s tour from \u200bcity to \u2063city.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe were \u200cthe social network\u2062 before there was a social network on the Internet,\u201d \u2063Buffett \u200dtold the Dallas Morning News in 2012. \u201cThey \u200chad something in common; they shared things. They started\u2062 dressing up because they were listening \u2064to the\u200d music. It was the common bond.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Business success soon eclipsed record sales.\u2062 According to Buffett\u2019s \u200dwebsite, \u200bthe first Margaritaville opened\u2064 in \u2063Key West, Florida, in 1987. The chain grew to 16 outlets\u2062 and Harrah\u2019s Entertainment, Inc., teamed up with Buffett to develop the \u2063$700\u200c million\u2062 Margaritaville\u200d Casino &#038; \u200cResort in Biloxi, \u200bMississippi, near\u200b where he was raised.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of his\u200d commercial achievements, Buffett\u2019s legacy will be, in his words, \u201chelping people forget their troubles for a couple of \u200bhours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The singer told the\u2062 Baltimore \u2063Sun in 1999 that his optimistic view of life brought fans to the humor \u2063and escapism in his work.
