Andy Beshear (D-KY) has sparked speculation this week by refusing to commit to\u200d replacing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell \u2064(R-KY) with another conservative in the event\u200d that McConnell resigns. This comes after McConnell experienced two instances of freezing \u200bup this summer. <\/p>\n<p>Beshear, when asked \u200dabout a potential replacement for McConnell, stated that\u2064 he would\u2063 not engage in speculation, including \u2062whether the replacement would come from McConnell&#8217;s \u200cown party. Additionally, he has been given the \u200dgreen light to resume his \u2064Senate duties by Dr.\u200c Brian \u2062Monahan, the attending \u200bphysician for Congress.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>\u201cWell, I\u2064 respect Sen. McConnell and his health not \u2014 first of all, to not sensationalize\u2063 it, and second, there is no vacancy,&#8221; Beshear said. \u200c&#8221;So he\u2062 has said\u2063 he\u2019s going to serve out his\u2062 term, and I fully believe him.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This\u200b refusal to commit raises\u200c questions \u200cabout whether Beshear will \u2064attempt to \u2064disregard the 2021 law, which he previously attempted to\u200d veto.
