According\u200b to the report released by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax\u2062 Administration, a total\u2063 of 496 employees received income from either a\u2062 large accounting firm or corporation before, during, or after their time at the IRS.<\/p>\n<p>Out \u2063of these employees, 241 were paid by a large accounting firm, while\u200b 255 received payments from a large \u200bcorporation, as\u200b reported by The Hill.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOur \u2062review found no direct correlation between the employees\u2019 work assignments\u200c and\u200c the \u200ccompany or firm from which\u2063 they came or left for in the private\u200d sector,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, the\u2064 report did identify four non-executive employees who charged time to a private \u2062letter ruling involving the same large accounting firm they had recently worked for or joined after leaving the IRS. While not a direct correlation, this raised concerns about impartiality, as stated in \u200cthe report.<\/p>\n<p>The report also highlighted that IRS policies primarily rely on individual self-reporting to address potential\u200b conflicts of \u200dinterest. However, this practice increases the risk of conflicts of interest, according \u200cto the report.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cFor example,\u2063 the movement of employees in \u2063and \u200bout of the private sector to public service can increase \u2063the risk\u200d of conflicts\u200b of interest \u200bfor incoming and outgoing employees and the possibility of undue influence by \u200bformer or prospective \u2062employers that might lead to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">preferential treatment<\/a> or\u200b create an unfair advantage for specific entities or individuals,\u201d the \u200breport said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The report acknowledged that there are \u200brestrictions on what former IRS employees\u200b can do after \u2063leaving the \u2063agency. However, there are no restrictions preventing any former employee, regardless of their rank or position, from accepting employment with any particular private\u2063 or public employer.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic \u2063Sen. \u2062Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts \u200dand Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington requested the investigation, expressing concerns about the use of the revolving door by accounting\u200b firms to benefit\u2063 their \u2064clients.<\/p>\n<p>In response \u2062to the \u200creport, the\u200b IRS defended its need for private expertise to carry out its\u200d job effectively. Holly O. \u2064Paz, \u200dacting commissioner\u2063 of the tax \u200dagency\u2019s large \u200cbusiness and international \u2063division, emphasized the importance of a highly skilled and experienced workforce for conducting complex audits of large corporations.<\/p>\n<p>A previous report by \u200dThe New \u2064York Times revealed that\u200d large accounting firms were \u2062already deeply\u2064 embedded\u200b within the IRS.
